Because put yourself in his shoes. It's not worth the risk financially since he doesn't have millions for fall back on yet. What if he did need microfracture? He would be out an entire year with no contract or money next season. It's always in a player's best interest to get a guaranteed contract first.

I know amare is an extreme cause since everyone knew he was getting the max, but he complained of knee pain during the summer, yet the suns didn't insist on a knee scope for him before giving him the max.

I doubt it. I said it was a **** signing when it happened, but was overwhelmed by all the francis lovers living in the past. Was proven correct last year and will be proven correct this year, cause anyone with half a brain and not wearing francis goggles could have seen that francis was done before the signing. A team paid him 30 mill to just go away.

and a better player in the defensive end

don't get me wrong, landry is a great fit to the rockets. but the fact that we've been short at 4 for years makes landry look better than he is.

someone may say look his numbers, he is already a top efficient guy in the league in his rookie year. but i do feel like his stats is sorts of overrated because of 2 reasons:

    1. i know it's corny but i have to mention the star effect of tmac and yao

    2. he is a great finisher. it's a good thing. but when it comes to stats, i say we got to be cautious. great finishers' numbers always look better than they really are. look at shawn marion, his number is almost as good as ducan and garnett, but i think rasheed wallace is much value to a team than marion

3 years for about $9 mil would seem right but I wouldn't go anything over that amount

Frankly, who cares? Francis costs $2.5 million a year.

What if he did have a micro fracture? you just said that the rockets were making this injury with his leg up? I respect a players situation on getting a guarnteed contract but dont lie to your team and fans if you think you really are hurt!

I wonder what the offer was...If the offer was around 3 or 3.5 million then I say try looking for a S&T for a role player plus draft picks.

Landry for Shawne Williams + Rights to Roy Hibbert

Shawne williams is a big 3/4 that has run into a series of trouble with the law. The deal is actually done to get in Hibbert to play backup Center for us.

if landry is healthy, pay the man !

Landry deserves to get just as much as Scola IMO. he had just as much of an impact on the rockets turnaround in the 2nd half of the season. hell, i think landry is probably even a better finisher than YAO in the paint. he goes up and finishes with POWER and we definitely need that out of our bigs. yao and scola are not very explosive. i think Landry also has a higher ceiling than scola.

I agree Morey got so much pressure to sign this guy and bring him back home and he did. He did the right thing at the time because brooks was unproven, Mike james left his game back in Toronto, and everybody hated rafer oh yeah they still give rafer a hard time.

Cue three other people you can't sign and trade a player using any exception (MLE, LLE, etc.)

No one hates Rafer, they just wish he could shoot better.

    +1

I think people are overlooking the fact that Scola is vastly underpaid.

Landry's durability is not proven like Scola's and *please* don't refer to Dallas contracts (Dampier contract omg, Kidd trade a dud). I see no incentive in the world for Landry to avoid the scope. Too busy? Not a high priority? Landry should have ten doctors' notes by now. Seems to me he ought to just settle soon and scream with joy (not quite as loud as Chuck Hayes) "I'm a millionaire AND I'm playing in the NBA!!!!"

Scola is currently is a superior player than Landry in almost every single way, except Landry dunks well. Landry has potential, I agree, but let's not get carried away. IMO, no way he should get paid more than Scola, our actual starter.

Is he not coming off his best shooting percentage from beyond the arc this last year, and the tear drop looked a little bit better this year.... he might start showing some signs of age this year pushing 32 or 33 maybe?

You think Scola is underpaid for a second year NBA player that is the fourth option on a team now? How much do you think he should be making then?

And I don't agree with the poster that thinks Landry should be making as much as Scola. Maybe some here think they are equally talented, I give Scola the edge clearly. I think this will be a breakout year for Scola, even with out big 3 on the court. His job will be so much easier with those guys out there.
