I don't know how to explain it, but I can't imagine that these broadcasting companies just hate us or something. I mean, does that make any sense to you?

Apparently, being the 4th largest city in the country, and having Yao Ming, Tracy McGrady, Ron Artest, and Luis Scola is not enough to bring us major national coverage. I don't claim to understand it, but there has to be a logical bottom-line reason, so it's not worth getting worked up about. It definitely sucks that we don't have more people who want to watch us in spite of all that... but it makes me more angry at the Rockets' fair-weather fanbase than the national media.

Maybe there are many more games that will pop up as the season goes on and the Rockets stay healthy and win game after game... injuries could be the main concern of some of these broadcasting companies, I guess.

And again, it is pretty likely that they did not think Ron Artest was going to be a Rocket when they were setting up the TV schedule.

Right on. We'll get more of the national spotlight as our season plays out. Until then, I hope we fly under the radar though as we usually tend to do. I also had a very bad thought while watching USA road to redemption on NBA.com today. You know those thoughts that pop into your head and you're just like whoa, that was really bad. Where did that come from? Well I imagined what would happen if Team USA's plane went down. Messed up? Definitely. I would not want to win a ring that way but we would dominate the west with no team even coming close for the next decade or so. Again, I would never ever want that to happen. The face of the league would drastically change in one fell swoop though.

Your bday is Feb 20? Same day as mine then.

Do you realise we share a bday with Barkley and Marbury?

    :)

Does anyone have a schedule for '09 that can be imported into Outlook?

Here is the link from the Rockets website. Not sure if it updated though.

Along those lines...is there a way to import the schedule onto an 3G iPhone?

Hah, that was random... You're right, that would be horrible for many reasons, and I hate to even continue the discussion, but it's worth mentioning one thing: there are a few great teams that are not affected very much (directly) by the passengers on that plane. Specifically, the Celtics, Spurs, Blazers, and maybe one or two others I'm forgetting.

Either way, I neither want, nor do I think we need something even remotely close to that to happen. All we need is for this team to stick together and be healthy for the playoffs.

I wanted more Houston vs. Lakers on national TV but at least it's cool.

MAN! The home opener is in the middle of the week!!

Alright, I need to figure out when the best time to come down will be if I don't come opening night.

Did I miss the preseason games somewhere?

    :( :( :(

    That schedule sucks!

    November 7 @ L.A. Clippers
    November 9 @ L.A. Lakers
    December 13 @ L.A. Clippers
    April 3 @ L.A. Lakers

I am not going to be able to attend any of the Rockets games this year! Why can't they play the Lakers or Clippers in Los Angeles in freaking December around my birthday like they always do!!!!

    I hate this crap!

When does the preseason schedule come out? Or has it already?

We are in August, and the season starts October 29. 1 month off by name, but 29 days into the next month. It's so close, yet so far.

december 29th through march 3rd should be a good stretch for us. lots of eastern teams, not many top-notch west teams.

and really, if denver and golden state are lesser versions of themselves with camby and baron gone, you can extend it back to november 21st, a 49 game stretch. with the 12 best teams probably being ORL, SA, CLE, NO, UTAH, BOS, LAL, UTAH, DET, DAL, PORT, CLE. 8 really good teams, 4 good teams, and a few more solid teams mixed in around them with a lot of bad teams thrown in. the beginning and end kind of suck, but the middle should be where we do some serious damage if we're as good as we hope we are.
