With Novak and Greene and Bjax gone, is there room on the roster now for the unsung summer league hero Maary Luenan?

He had a knack for always being in the right place at the right time, and is a PF that can shoot the 3 ball.

He is not ready yet, but he is closer than Novak is to being ready.

Is there room on the roster THIS year for him?

    Theres room in my butt.

Nah, save it for a backup big. Our top priority right now should be size, skilled or not. Just someone to develop and clog the paint to spell Yao incase Mutombo decides to retire.

DD found a new flavor of the month. The ink isn't even dry on Novak's trade, and DD pounces.

I would hope this would open up a spot for him we need a few more guys that can hit the 15 footers consistently!!

If you watched the summer league games, he was the most NBA ready out of everyone on the floor, except for maybe Brooks.

He just had a knack for being in the right place at the right time....he did a little of everything and was fun to watch.

Morey said in a interview how important these shooting 4's are in the league... he also said Novak would be around at least one more year :(

I liked what I saw out of Maarty in summer league, but don't see any point in signing him. With Barry and Artest in the fold, there's basically no chance that Leunen would play. They should have him develop overseas and reevaluate in a year or two. The best case scenario would be for Barry to give the team a good contribution for the next two years, while Leunen develops into a quality pro. Then we can bring him over when Barry retires.

Maarty Leunen would be nice, but unless Leunen impressed Morey a lot in private workouts past this summer league, I see Mike Harris as the last roster spot; and Morey lets Leunen play overseas for a year. Or, who knows, there could be a trade.

Lets see, we are allowed a maximum of15 roster spots.

Assuming that Landry will resign and Deke will stay in retirement.

    PG-Alston, Brooks, Francis
    SG-TMAC, Barry, Head
    SF- Artest, Battier,
    PF- Scola, Landry, Hayes
    C-Yao, Dorsey,

Not sure if I listed everyone on the team but, as of now we have 13 players (w/Landry) on the active roster I would think Mike Harris will get the first shot at one of the spots remaining, so that leaves one open spot if Deke don't come back.

I like him too.......I think Mike Harris makes it...though with Artest we really don't need him unless we get rid of Hayes.

We should try to clear out Hayes and Head and resign Landry and that might free up a Leunan spot.

i agree with you 100% ...i saw him in summer league....

    he is very mobile
can put the ball on the floor
    has a pure shot
seems to always find the open spot

hes at least worth a look in trainig camp, and preseason
but from what i hear ...he is signed sealed and delivered as an overseas guy

They can't bring him into camp unless they plan on keeping him because once he is signed he has to stick or the team loses his rights.

He will probably get some seasoning overseas....

We have had several overseas players stashed and none have panned out with the exception of V-Span (a bit) so it would be nice if one actually makes a real impact.

For an obvious "win now" squad there's no way a guy like Leunen fits into the equation.
