Why has nothing been mentioned on the Alonzo Mourning front on this board. I really think Rox should go after him, he's a great backup for Yao. He's every bit the defender that Deke is, great locker room presence and also unlike Deke, he can be a threat on the offensive end? The only reason I can think no one has approached him is cuz he's such a Miami/Pat Riley guy, but he's got no reason to stay in Miami since they've got no chance to win a title there.

What's the general thoughts on Zo?

He's lucky to be able to even play competitive pickup ball.

He and Gary Payton and Antoine Walker should have retired after winning a ring in Miami.

The kidney issue had nothing to do with games he missed last year. Doesn't look like Deke is coming back, so not much else in terms of experienced big men, always good to have a couple of vets with a ring(s) in the locker room.

If he does give it one last last go a guy like him would probably want to go out on top right? He wouldn't want to toil it out in Miami, right? If he's sane.

If he can replicate his most recent stats, he would be a good midseason signing like PJ Brown or Cassell this year.

Only in the event of Mutombo calling it quits do I think are we mentioned in the running for his services. We should get Landry back so we still look solid up front.

If we lose a certain ooother big man (not naming names!) we'll be in a better position this season with Artest but I still wouldn't expect us to seriously compete with an LA, San Antonio, or Boston as it gets closer to playoff time.

That's a good thought. I've actually thought about zo at 38 yrs old. He's still a good defender, tough guy, great lockeroom guy. Its really a matter of Zo really wanting to leave Miami to chase another ring. He and Theo would be great backups. Theo can actually play some 4 also. I just wish the Rox always had a shotblocker on the floor. Before yao went down and rick wasn't playing deke, teams used to really attack the rim on houston. Even though shot blocking is a little overrated, there is a difference when one isn't present. That's why Utah have problems with teams that can get to the rim. Ak-47 is a good shot blocker, but he's a wing and normally far away from the basket.

I'd like to sign him just to see if Vince Carter could dunk on his head again when the Nets come to town. Other than that, no interest.

I completely forgot about Zo. Hmm interesting you bring this up. I dont see how a 1 year vet min contract would be a bad offer. He was one of, if not the best back up center in the league before he got hurt. He also said he does not want to end his career on that kind of note, so he may be willing to go play for a contender.

It couldn't hurt as a last minute move really.

Oh and those of you saying youre not interested, what would be the other options if Deke does not come back? Then what? Are you guys willing to trust Dorsey, or one of our undersized PF's at C? I would much have a legendary defensive 7'0 center than out of position forwards.

I think he'd be great for this team both on the court in a limited back up role and locker room leader. Seems like he would be a great neutralizer for Artest if he ever started acting up.

i think we should go for him, he's experianced, has the ring, is a good shot blocker. similair to a mutumbo but with a ring and a little less shot block and less age

Last year, he wass the only other center in the league to miss more games(25 games played) than Yao Ming(55 games played). How can help us when Yao is injured, if he misses more games than Yao? LOL

    67 games?
    67 games?
He missed 67 games, because of his knee?
Zo is going to replace Yao Ming, when he is injured?
