    Great post, DonKnutts.

The part about Steve and Cat was most interesting. I wonder if Hakeem and Clyde would agree.

   Barkley always seems to rip Francis and Mobley. Francis said that he thought that Barkley was mean when they played together, so maybe that's why they didn't listen to Barkley, cause he could've been mean to them or something.

Maybe the two young un's ego's were so guarded and puffed up during their youth weren't used to Charle's ribbing? Like Blastoff, I'd love to hear Hakeem spin on this, not sure if Clyde was around by the time SF showed up. This ignoring your elders bit sort of falls into the "make the same stupid mistake over and over category" of never learning anything because you think you're an awesome player and hey, when you make ESPN's highlight reel, your mistakes won't.

It's hard to listen to a Guy that comes to games from an all night bender, while sleeping with 2 blondes and tells the team. Guys, I have nothing tonight, I may get a couple of rebounds, however, I will need help on D. Then wakes up in the 4th Qtr and wants the ball for a one-on-one.

Give me a break the dude killed his body and game by drinking and carousing all night long during his NBA career. That's why Clyde and Dream hated playing with him and he never won a championship. Too busy kissing MJ's butt to beat him.

The pre-game info comes directly from Clyde Drexler.

That's the funniest thing I've ever heard. It's not kissing butt, it's respect.

About Francis and Mobley, this is why I think we need an Oakley/Barkley type. To keep them in check, so they know not to still make rookie mistakes when Oak is around.

Don't get it twisted, man532. Being an ass like Barkley (and I'm sure you'll agree, he is Planet Ass) doesn't lessen his credibility discussing his time with Steve and Cat when they became Rockets.

Clyde can call him an ass, but then every Rocket past and present probably fits that description.

Pay your damn dues Cat and Steve. I guarantee you part of why Barkley was "mean" was because Barkley was treated that way when he came into the league.

Cat and Steve should have learned more than they have (if they learned anything at all) from Barkley.

Unfortunately, the one vet that Cat followed was Pippen. I'm sure Cat was on Pippen's side after Pippen said his crap about Barkley.

I really hope "Ace and Gary" mature and get their $hit together before they retire as losers.

What good is it, if they don't listen?

If they don't listen to a Hall of Famer, why would they listen to a thug?

It's all up to Francis and Mobley at this point to grow some sack and step up.

A lesson from my fraternity days when we had discussions about hazing: If the only reason you are letting someone do something to you is so that you can do it to someone else later, you should'd put up with it.

The whole "Barkley was treated this way so Francis and Mobley should let him treat them this way" is r****ded.

Also, while I love Barkley and enjoy seeing/reading interviews, I can see man532's point. If Barkley was out all night and showed up with a hangover and completely disrespected the team I would be a lot less hesitent to take his advice if I were in Francis's or Mobley's position.

    I dunno
Barkley really was not all that kind to DOC J [u know the GOSPEL]
    in his book

In fact he kinda ripped him.

So all that about what Doc and Mo said being Gospel
I'm not so sure about that
and that definately makes his credibility a little shot

Also . . Advice and guidence depends on how you come
at someone . . . . If you don't approach someone the right
way [which we all can agree AIN't barkley's forte']
of course they ain't gonna listen.

If Mj is giving basketball tips and is making you feel like
an ass and worthles...along the way. . . . . .how long could you take it?

"Here are my tiers of basketball: Jordan is at the top with no one else. Bill Russell is next with Wilt Chamberlain right there. Then Oscar Robertson and Magic Johnson. Next are Jerry West and Bird. Then I can fall anywhere in the next couple tiers down from those guys. Elgin Baylor? I just don't know enough about him."

I found that quote interesting too. No mention of Dream at all. I suppose, Hakeem probably fell in that tier above Barkley, but below Jerry West, eh?

I remember a time years ago when Allen Leavell stepped in front of Barkley on a breakaway with a full head of steam. Barkley flattened him, and Leavell went flying backwards into the second row of seats. After the initial shock of what happened, and when everyone realized Leavell was alright, the entire bench broke into histerical laughter at Leavell. You could tell everyone was asking him "WHAT IN THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING, MAN??? YOU COULD 'VE BEEN KILLED!!!"

BTW, there was no call on the play.

In his book, Chuck said no one ever took two charges on him, because if he saw someone trying to take the charge he would put his knee into the guy's chesat as he jumped into them.

Maybe that's why they play streetball. They have no appreciation of the NBA players that came before them.

Rudy needs to show some tape on Magic and "Showtime", so they can learn how to execute a fast break.

He could show them George Karl's Sonics so they can learn how to play defense.

It all makes sense now. Apparently all they know about basketball is what they learned on the playground.

How could that be a great post by DonKnutts and he did not even write anything? All he did was look up an article and then pasted it on this thread.

I remember watching a special on Mobley his rookie year and how he said he valued having Olajuwon give him advice on being in the NBA. I'm pretty sure Steve felt the same way. So maybe Barkley was just jealous they listened more to Olajuwon than him. Who would you listen to more if you had the choice? A Hall of Famer with 2 rings, or one with none?

They probably listened to Barkley at first but then got tired of his non-stop talking. However, Barkley has a point about society being messed up these days.

I heard a mention on Channel 2 at 6...they did an interview with Barkley and reaction from Cuttino/Steve. Supposed to be on their 10pm newscast.

Chuck complains more than anyone I have ever heard about kids not listening to him. Wasn't it him that made the big freakin' deal about "I am not a role model". Do you want people to listen to you Chuck or not? Make up your dang mind! Stop whining.

Another thing... society is definetly not messed up. If anything, it continues to get better. Ask Chuck if he would like for people to treat him the way they did in Alabama when he was growing up and I guarantee you he will say that society is better now.

AND another thing... I have no respect for what comes out of Charles' mouth, and I wouldn't listen to him for advice on anything. He is a great comedian, but as a teacher he is pretty lacking. Maybe he can teach them how to resolve difficult problems by throwing people through plate glass windows.

AND another thing... THEY DID LISTEN TO YOU CHARLES!!! They play defense just like you! I hope they can unlearn that little bit of wisdom you managed to pass on.
