what does a membership there look like? im thinking about printing up a free pass and going up there today.
They do the same thing. Actually, 24 is worse cuz they do have that 30-day prior notification cancellation policy and I missed it by one day so I had to pay for 2 months I was not going to use. I think its par for the course for gyms to have this 30-day thing. They pretty much want to make it as painful as possible to cancel a membership.
you should try crossfit.com if you dont like going to gyms.. most of the daily workouts can be done without gym equipment and the rest can be done with minimal equipment
speaking of 24 hour fitness, has anyone gone to the new SuperSport downtown? i'm speaking about downtown Houston btw.
They harassed me on the phone and send me numerous amount of letters from the debt collectors agency... I contacted the gym directly and told them that I know longer live in the vicinity of the gym I used to go too, so why am i still getting billed for it...
They're all crooks. I've worked at one here in Valley Ranch(not LA fitness), and my girls worked at an LA fitness. They're all crooks I say. The YMCA is where it's at. Maybe it's just my Y, but we have fairly new equipment comparable to LA fitness et al. Plus, a bigger pool and a bigger basketball court. Y-M-C-A
I go there. It's nice. Lots of the trash from Meyerland and Richmond are sending it downhill fast though.
This sort of thing happens way too much, and much more often than it used to before companies started realizing that they could issue 'punitive fees' with impunity. Late fees on bills, early cancellation fees, rising overdraft fees (that banks actually attempt to impose even when the fees are unjustified i.e., counting your deductions before your deposits), "equipment" fees - and all these things keep increasing in cost. Keep in mind - in most situations, this is free money for these companies (collecting money without providing a service or making any expenditures), and there are no legal checks (in most places) as to the upper limit of what they can charge. Of course, people will trot out the "just go to a different company" line in defending the status quo - but how practical a suggestion is that? In your area, your options may be limited - there's only one utility company, or only one gym nearby. Even in big cities, most comparable companies will ALL have the same punishment fees. Large companies have figured out that they have ALL the leverage in any given situation. They're the ones who can change your credit rating with a simple message to Equifax - meanwhile, you have to file an appeal and wait for Equifax to 'investigate' - how often do you think they come down on the side of the consumer in their 'investigations'? These companies do make mistakes - and they make them often. Why is the onus on YOU to prove that THEY were mistaken when all they had to do was press a button to ruin your credit? There is no parity between the consumer and the service provider, and there is no apparent way to make parity. It's not nice to be completely at the mercy of a small group of people who you will never meet and whose ONLY goal is to turn a profit at your expense - and who now have increasing power to 'punish' you through your bank account.
No, just active and sport. There aren't that many super and ultra in Dallas anyway so I don't mind that. But that deal already expired today.
When I was in Houston, I used to pay 24 bucks a month for Sport level gyms. It was also month to month and no contract. Search around on Slickdeals.net forums and you will occasionally see a deal for a gym on there. I've also see yearly fees of $240 for 24 Hr Fitness as well if paid one year in advance.
I have a membership for $550 for 3 years, then $30 PER YEAR afterwards at 24 hour fitness. Their usual deal is 600 for 3 years, then $50 per year, or $700, then $30 per year afterwards. They had a special where they cut $150 off the $700 deal, so I ran with it. I can go to all the clubs in the US, so it's a very good deal.
I am actually canceling my membership this week. They told me it was a 20 day notification though and i only have to fill out one form. No question the gym is full of ****, and the exact reason why i am canceling my account. They have fukd me over a good thousand times. One example is thier salesman telling me that i can add free accounts with a payment of 60 dollars and i will never have to pay agin. NEVER. I know that is whack and why would i be stupid to believe that but anyways i did. 2 ****in salesman told me this and so i fell for it. And yea, that lost me around 150 or somethin because my friends were not going to pay me for what was apperently my fault.
yea it cannot possibly be as bad as Ballys. I almost got screwed like that its over now but i need to check my credit.
