Man guys. Never join LA Fitness! They will take all your money. They are all about scam! When i go there to cancel my membership, they say fill out 4 forms and mail it in California when I live in Texas. Then im like what the heck. The LA Fitness manager says it will take 1 week for the email to come. My friend also cancelled his membership about 3 weeks ago and his email hasn't come yet! And then i went on some other websites and they say that LA Fitness is a scam! They you have to give a 30 day notification before u cancel. So then when i go up to them, they say i will be billed for one more month!! Man im so pissed right now. THIS IS COMPLETE BS SCAM!! Never join LA Fitness. I guarantee you. You will hate it!!!!!!! Yep, I switched from LA Fitness to 24 hours. You can get 2 year prepaid memberships from Costco for about $230. I didn't want to pay an initiation fee at LA Fitness and got in a huge fight with the manager and then insulted him by calling him a Kiosk.
Read the fine print any time you enter into a contract...especially with fitness clubs. They have been notorious for this since the beginning of time. I've heard complaints about Lifetime fitness as well. They're all crooks. I've been lucky. I've had a Gold's membership through work. It's cheap and I'm not the one stuck in a contract. It gets paid out of my paycheck and if I want out after 1 year, I simply quit. No penalties or anything. Plus, they don't have my credit info, etc.
If you read the contract at the beginning, you would know how the cancellation works. I'm with LA Fitness and I have no problems with them. Cancellation should be easy since I read the terms at the beginning. I'm just saying.
So you're pissed because like most subscription based services they require a 30 day cancellation notice? Although it is TOTAL B.S. that you have to "mail" something off to cancel. You should be able to call a customer service hotline and cancel anytime, IMO.
Isn't it basically the same with other gyms? You pay the initiation fee, first month AND last month of the contract. Basically here from what it seems They're just getting payment for the last month. Just go to the gym for that last month so it doesn't feel like a waste.
I don't see why people even go there, it's more expensive than 24hourfitness but basically the same thing
