    ........

I also had a chance to talk with Rockets GM Daryl Morey. Keep in mind that this was Tuesday afternoon, a few hours before news of the Ron Artest deal broke. I give full props to the guy for keeping a gangster poker face when I brought trades up to him. He rolled his eyes when I brought up the T-Mac to Detroit stuff.

SLAM: How do you feel about your team right now?

Daryl Morey: We feel like this off-season we’re adding Yao Ming, basically. That doesn’t mean that we’re resting on what we’ve got. We’re constantly looking to upgrade, but we feel like we’ll make a strong push next year and we really need to figure out how to get out of the first round.

SLAM: What was going on with the T-Mac to Detroit rumors? Was it more Detroit coming to you guys? Was there any truth to it?

DM: I think, to me it feels very similar to when I was in Boston with Paul (Pierce). All those years there were rumors that we were trading him and we never were and it’s the same with Tracy, we’re not.

It's never good to make accusations, especially if you're using foul language, but frankly buddy, I think you're absolutely right!

He can't talk about the Artest deal until it's complete Aug. 14. He meant that Yao was hurt last season, and will be back next season.

(In plain english: Morey claimed that adding Ron is like adding another Yao while T-Mac rumors are like Pierce's)

      NBA Live

Firstly, sina.com is bull$hit. Even more so than hoopsworld.

Secondly, um, posting the Chinese thing isn't gonna help you.

    Aww c'mon.

Can people please read articles in their original language instead of reading badly translated versions before posting them here?

I find that a lot of Chinese translations of U.S. media articles are done by people with rather poor understanding of English who often misinterpret what was said in the original article.

Lighten up man. The guy made an effort. And it looks like he did read the article in his own language and that is were the confusion came in. Still he is contributing and we got some new info on this board instead of stupid threads about Morey liking beef.

and why would they trade tmac.

if healthy, you won't get equal value back. if not healthy, no one wants him for more than some C level talent (like what the rockets sent the magic for him).

keep him on the team, and use his ending contract to get under the cap in 2010.

    Hey...

I read chinese one this morning first.. then i thought that i would share with you guys here in Clutch. I did NOT post it right away based on that Chinese article.

Then i spend around 20 mins on finding out the original to post here

I was misled and I said sorry above

What are u still demanding? I said sorry again, alright?

Why are u spreading some speculations beyond this? It's Yao's talk (on Ron) again?

Just let ppl stop posting? I am a Canadian + Chinese Rockets fan

What i did was that i am still in excitement with Ron's trade. I spent extra time on browsing this forum and around because of it. And so happy to share "any news" with you

    Thanks

Morey does like beef. Beef is useful and undervalued and Morey likes everything undervalued. It's an important characteristic of Morey's moves. Morey will continue to acquire beef until the rest of the league catches up to beef's value, then he will move on to something else undervalued by the rest of the league.

That you not form any opinion as to what was said by reading Chinese translations of English articles. Don't even let the Chinese translation color your understanding of the original articles. These translation tend to be done very poorly and miss the point of the original entirely.

I'm completely confused by all the responses in this thread. Was the thread title changed or something?

McGrady is working hard, he will be back healthly. The same situation with Yao. You add Artest and Barry to that mix. It is a great team, I can even say top 3 team in the NBA right now.

I know the question is health and we can be concerned about that but yes, I belive this time things will be different.
