Morey has done an excellent job. First of all he has been very active because he wants so much to make this team better.

Even last year he did a lot of good things but this time singing Ron and Barry was a brilliant move.

    Thanks

If i am not mistaken the gm that put that championship team together was not cd. cd did a few good moves but nothing spectacular. the barkley trade... heck we traded like our main role players just to get one guy. Then he started over paying guys like mo taylor, moochie, matt maloney... yeah... sorry to say but compared to what More is doing, I am beginning to wonder why we kept him there. I loved CD as an assistant coach but the GM the man had to go... i kinda don't remember but who got us tmac? If i am not mistaken it was morey working under cd at that time... the man is a wizard. He has turned the roster around in a couple of years for the best.

It was CD who got us Tmac.

Morey only came on in the '06-'07 season under CD's wings.

Regardless, he's been doing an amazing job so far. We'll see how things work out.

A bit, yeah. CD pulled off some pretty slick deals, and we still don't know how much input Morey had in the Rudy Gay fiasco.

I'm only going to judge DM on deals when he became fulltime GM. Rudy Gay is on CD/JVG IMO.

    That's what I'm saying.

    Ralph Sampson?
    Hakeem Olajuwon?
    Otis Thorpe?
    Sam Cassell?
    Robert Horry?
    Clyde Drexler?
    Scottie Pippen?
    Charles Barkley?
    Steve Francis?
    Yao Ming?
    Tracy Mcgrady?

    Just to name a few...

Sure, the Pippen deal didn't turn out the way we might have wanted ( I still remember the day he was traded here. We were all ECSTATIC,,, The BBS was crashed for what seemed like an eternity after the news broke) and some people may have been upset at trading Cassell and Horry + extra for Barkley (it was without a doubt the right move) all those were key acquisitions. And don't even start with the well Yao was a consensus number 1 pick because CD could have easily taken Jay Williams or traded Yao to GS back in the day for Jamison + extras which was definitely on the table.

For all the Bryce Drews, Mirsad Tirkan sp*, Matt Baloney contract, Kelvin Cato contract etc CD did a helluva job and you can't discredit some of the huge moves he made during his tenure. Whether it was all him or not? Who knows. However he had the GM title from 1979-2007 and if it wasn't for his trade to bring Drexler to Houston in 95 I'D STILL BE A BLAZERS FAN WITHOUT A DOUBT.

Don't get me wrong I love Morey and I think he's made some great moves thus far but his sample size is much too small and knowing the bipolar personalities of many Clutchfans .... hopefully some posters won't get too upset when Morey makes a mistake because it's bound to happen. So far so good though. But remember Dawson was GM for nearly 3 DECADES while Morey has been at the helm for a just over a year.

Morey is more of a robber, the trade with sac for art is not a deal or steal.it's simply a robbery.I personally speculate that morey has some relatives of the kings' owner's as hostage. :D

I was joking ,in fact ,it's a fair trade.kings just paied one years right to use artest ,as artest will never resign with kings even if he stayed there.however ,morey lost a potential rookie ,Donte.

Where was this love the day of the B-Jax for MJ & Bonzi trade? I remember people here were ready to have a public execution for him and Les that day...

But, yes. Morey can walk on water. :D

that's because most fans here don't get salary cap and don't get luxury tax. A little bit of education goes a long way towards looking like a rookie to looking like a seasoned veteran around here.

Also, a baseball term called VORP, or value over replacement player, is an incredible thing to have. People only saw we lost bonzi's production and the 20 ppg mike james, and didn't see that landry would replace bonzi's production more efficiently, and Jackson is Mike James with one year less on his contract, good locker room presence, and actually knows the system.

But expirings are huge. It disturbs me when fans say "but we could have held Mike James as an expiring one year later". Uhh..what? Please, educate yourself on the cap and the tax, and that's the difference between 2 star threads and 4 star threads

You should probably look up when CD actually became the GM before starting to give him credit for Olajuwon and Sampson.

To my memory, towards end of his stint, CD put together some fairly poor contracts from a financial standpoint. Moochie's contract, for example.

Regardless of what happens with the team, I will always love and have faith in my Rockets. We could go 0-82 next year and I'd still be a fan like if we went 82-0. Hell, if we never got Artest, Yao, or T-Mac, I'd still be supporting my team.

Mainly because I love the City of Houston and can't really root for any other team that is not from Houston. It just doesn't feel the same. Even after the Championship years, I was with the team through the entire ride and will continue until there are no more Rockets in Houston.

Every GM's moves get discussed on the internet, but Morey has been praised a lot more than bashed.

My favorite thing about Morey is we can band together and come up with our own stuff but it's still not as good as what Morey pulls off, and he pulls things off in ways we wouldn't of even thought about.

HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN THAT WE HAVE BEEN UN-ABLE TO TELL THE GM HOW TO DO HIS JOB??????????
