Anyone here that plays online poker use an odds calculator? If so which one and how much was it? I have looked into a few but most were either too expense to take for a test run, didn't work, were spyware/adware in disguise or a combination of the above. I started playing more frequently recently and could see it coming in handy when I am playing multiple tables at once.
When I used to play a lot in the past I used this one and liked it a lot. http://www.calculatem.com/ BTW what site are you playing on that lets you transfer easily into it?
pokerstar is very easily to transfer in and out of. they have an echecks cashier method to get in on and off easily. Do not put money into Bodog for the immediate future
also pokertracker and HUD downloads can greatly improve your play. pokertracker.com they have free trials to test them out.
I used to play online all the time but I didn't know there is such a thing! It would have helped tremendously. I use this free online tool just so see the odds after big hands I'm involved in but its probably no use for what you are looking for: http://www.cardplayer.com/poker_odds/texas_holdem
Odds calculator: http://www.pokerstove.com/ Free I think Hand by hand review and system to check personal stats: http://www.pokertracker.com/ If you're devious, there's ways you can download this and upgrade it to the newest version for free. Though it doesn't really make sense since this program is gonna really help you make your money... Then for statistics of live tables: http://www.pokeracesoftware.com/ Kind of a supplement to Poker tracker, but helpful because it displays the stats for the people at your table. Those are the 3 main resources that most people in poker use I believe. Go to twoplustwo.com forums if you're really serious in learning strategies and discussing the game.
a simple one wrote by my discrete math professor: http://www.utdallas.edu/~tfarage/MyPapers/texasHoldEmApproxOddsApplet/classes/MainApplet.html
I play on PokerStars mostly $1.20 single and multiple (2-5) table sit n go tourneys, and the occasional 4.40 180 person sit n go tourneys. E-Check easy in (and out I suspect, not sure on that since I just started...)
Here's a tip: before you buy anything that helps you calculate odds, start playing a game that is statistically beatable (The $1.20 SNGs are not statistically beatable).
ICM calculators are banned from PokerStars. Besides, figuring out the independent chip model is not insanely difficult.
pokerstove isn't really a odds calculator persay. and i'm pretty sure it isn't on the fly. holdem indicator is the best program for many different reasons, but mainly because it is empirical. Calculatem and other softwares are just mathematical. why not just try to memorize your odds? then calculateing pot odds would be very simple, use this chart and you should have everything memorized in a couple days to a week. http://www.thepokeroracle.com/billeder/pot odds chart.jpg
Calculatem is $70 bucks and not just once but you have to pay every year! That stinks. Will have to look into other HUD's out there...
not only that, the 1.20 sit and goes only pay out 4.00 to the winner, considering most of the 1.20 SnG's take about an hour..... thats not worth 4 bucks.
It's not possible be good enough to win at a high enough rate to overcome the $.20 you pay to play in every one of these SNGs.
http://twodimes.net/poker/ works and is free! Also, since it seems like you're mostly playing sngs, you should check out sharkscope.com. It keeps track of the majority of sngs that you play. You can see graphs that show how much you win... or lose
Full Tilt sucks, imo. Seems like Sharkscope has some sort of affiliation with them. PokerStars has no way of knowing that you're using Sharkscope while you're playing (unless you're berating some fish in chat, telling them they have a lovely -10% ROI or something like that), so you really shouldn't be worried about getting in trouble. I really only use Sharkscope to look at my graph after a couple of sessions. Which is something that all players can do. PokerStars just doesn't want the fish to see how much they've lost because they might stop playing which would obviously negatively affect their business.
