They may be the more diversified schools in the district but that's not really saying much. I know some people in those areas and they are, in fact, fairly preppy.
Depends on what your definition of preppy is. In relation to other school districts, I'm sure Morton or Mayde Creek is, but within Katy itself, those two schools are considered the working class schools along with Katy.
From an outsider with no knowledge of KISD, I would have said Katy and Mayde Creek aren't preppy. Katy includes the country and Mayde Creek is in Harris County, no? IMO the preppies live in the new neighborhoods along the Grand Parkway. I hope their parents enjoy the commute to Houston.
Morton Ranch, Mayde Creek and Taylor are in Harris. Seven Lakes and Cinco Ranch are in Fort Bend. Katy is in two counties, Fort Bend and Waller, I believe. BTW, my commute on I-10 from the Galleria is 30 minutes. That ain't bad.
Morton Ranch has gone increasingly downhill as an area over the last few years. We actually just moved from the area to get our teenage son out of the area. There have been multiple gang fights and student assaults in the school in the last year or so, which was a big part of our decision. Not to mention simply looking around the area at the decline of things in general. Morton Ranch is also the school that had the teacher who had the charges for a sexual relationship with one of the students not long ago. Another Jr. High that feeds into this high school, McDonald Junior High had a teacher/student relationship issue as well. It's just in general a declining area of Katy. However yes, as someone else said - it's still relative. The bad part of Katy is still better than most.
