Does it seem already that the Chronicle is trying to provoke Ron Artest into a battle against Yao before he even gets here? It seems that they would rather make something out of nothing to sell newspapers than to celebrate the good fortune of the teams efforts to obtain a top tier talent in the NBA. What do you guys think?
Oh come on. Stop blaming chronicle, if anyone, it is the Sacbee reporter who was trying to stir things up. Blinebury asked a very fair question to Yao.
No, Yao should have replied, "I'm excited about the trade. The possibilities are intriguing. Right now I'm focused on the Olympics but I'd like to welcome Ron Artest to Houston." Crisis averted.
The Chronicle writers have no one to compete with, so they are fat happy and arrogant. Justice and Blinebury are back peddling flip floppers who cater to local teams with butt kissing like no others. Justice is such a media w**** wanna be with his bad mouthing of Bonds for months on ESPN when he knows in his heart he said nothing about Bagwells transformation and he said nothing about putting an asterick next to the stats of an admitted cheater Giambi. I think he votes for baseball HOF and thats scary and shows you how stupid MLB is. GET SOME COMPETITION AGAINST THESE GUYS AND LETS GET SOME REAL STORIES AND LESS SENSATIONALISM.
You have a guy who has a reputation for being unstable. The Chronicle is following that angle. It's not out of the ordinary.
Blinebury will do his best this season to turn Ron Artest into an uncontrollable gorilla. Feigen will then do damage control and insist things are all are peaches and cream, nothing to worry about. We've seen a glimpse of that already, and I think that will continue.
Yao should have been smarter. He normally is. The stress of the Olympics probably caused him to have his guard down with Blinebury. You live and learn, no biggie. He’s talked to Artest and put out any possible misunderstanding. The media is always trying to dramatize things. You have Feigan baiting McGrady into ranting about how everything is his fault the middle of the playoffs or SAS getting McGrady to say he wouldn't mind a trade to Detroit. Or you have Chinese media fabricating a rift between Yao and Tracy and saying Tracy is iso-ing him. The media doesn’t’ care who they take down so long as they get their story.
Dream got into fights and could be a punk and even attacked his brother and a store clerk in public as well as later donating money to a terrorist organization supposedly unknowingly....... there's a rap sheet...... how about an article about our hero? sensationalism? THIS COUNTRY COULD ABOUT TO BE ATTACKED AND WE WOULD NEVER BECAUSE OF HEATH LEDGER AND HANNAH MONTANA ARE GREAT. CHRONICLE sucks....
Well, I am really surprised by the reportings by Fran and Justice. One would expect Houston media to welcome a 3rd scorer and a warrior into the Rockets with positive and optimistic perspectives. Anything different would likely to cause potential locker room problems to the Rockets. I hope the media stop focusing on provoking Ron (I know he has a bad past) to make him snap. If he snap, this will only create turmoil and problems to the Rockets. Just let the past go and focus on a good future.
Agreed. And that's why an article like this from ESPN proves there are sleazy writers that like to be instigators. The writers could have just as easily written how Artest sounded absolutely jovial or that he gave Yao the benefit of the doubt on last night's radio show. But where's the story in that? News reporting across the country needs to have true standards, stop sensationalizing, and enforce penalties on yellow journalism.
I can't find any blame in the reporters in this case. In this instance, Yao should have been smarter than that. Intrinsically, there was nothing wrong with Yao's comments, but it was quite the gaffe in this particular instance. He should have known he was dealing with a volatile psychopath and handled the situation accordingly with a simple "I'm excited" or "hello Houston I am come", or something of that nature. Luckily the situation was averted and Ron seems more thrilled about the fact that the team gave up two first round picks for him ("TWO first round picks! that's commitment!").
That turd Ken Hoffman is going off on Artest right now on www.1560thegame.com Like the others, he hasn't heard everything that has came out.
I wouldn't label the entire Chronicle this way but there are cetainly some bad seeds, e.g., Fran Blinebury and Richard Justice. I do think Blinebury has personal issues and takes them out in his work at times. It was bad judgment for Yao to make some of those comments but it was also poor judgment for Blinebury to publish them. He knew exactly what kind of fallout could ensue. He got his wish.
Most media people are drama queens just looking for controversy....not all but most. I know one this is for sure, if anything negative does happen its George Bush who is going to get blamed for it...
