Western Kentucky will be playing Louisiana Lafayette tonight on ESPN at 9 pm EST in the Sun Belt Tournament Championship game. While I have heard alot about Marcus, I have never seen him play. Therefore, tonight, I will be switching between the Rockets/Toronto game and this one so that I can get a first hand look at him. If you're interested, Marcus' profile can be found at http://www.nbadraft.net/profiles/chrismarcus.htm
your wasting your time, hes just like kevin duckworth, and looks like him to,how ironic.. if the rockets get him..expect next year a even slower offense with pound it in to marcus, and have everyone stand in concrete ala 93-99
Last I checked, the Rockets won 2 titles in that span. Is there something wrong with it when you have a dominant post player like Hakeem (and, in my estimation, like Marcus will be quickly)? Not to me. Marcus is the real deal - extremely big and muscular, learning the game yet polished, humble and a very hard worker. Whoever drafts him will be getting a steal.
And that's just a ridiculous quote. Have you ever seen the kid play? He's another Shawn Kemp at best - and not that for several more years at least. He carried his team to it's best record ever - slightly above .500 - and a quick exit in the state playoffs. How? He's easily contained. I don't care what you think of Stoudemire - he's just not there yet. And to say he's better than Duncan - arguably the best PF in the game - and that he would immediately take a team to the finals is ridiculous. Quit dreamcasting.
mf clark, can you change your handle? youll have to since i have a big I TOLD YOU SO next year./ how is kevin duckworth a dominate center? what a moron... i have facts to prove amare HAS MORE TALENT THAN DUNCAN,is he better now,no,..can he be ,yes...
Since when was I talking about Kevin Duckworth? I was talking about Chris Marcus. Does Amare have more talent than Duncan? Perhaps. But you can't judge that with facts, only opinions. Is he better now? No. Will he ever be? I highly doubt it. Again, I ask, have you ever seen him play?
Marcus really came back strong in the second half. Showed some nice skills, too. We'll see him again in the tourn.
Frankly I wasn't too impressed with Mr. Marcus, but I do see some potential. He's by no means quick, consistantly being the last player up and down the court. It's hard for me to judge how much effort he's putting in to getting up and down the court. But it didn't seem to be as much as I would have liked. He's got good post skills and has a nice jump/turnaround hook shot. He isn't extremely mobile in the paint but with his size that's not a problem at the college level. It may become one when he has to guard athletic centers that can pull him outside the paint. He's an intuitive rebounder and knows how to use his frame to get in position to block shots and get rebounds. On the other hand his verticle leads a bit to be desired. It stood out at times that he didn't get elevated as high as I thought he would have. But that just an opinion of mine. I can't tell you if the game was an abberition or not, seeing as it's the first time I've seen him play. But looking at him as a possible opponent for my Maryland team, I wasn't extremely worried. He's powerful in the paint with reasonable hands. But I think you could run him out of the gym by playing a real uptempo game. Conditioning and fouls could be a factor, he sat a signifigant portion of the second half because he had 3 fouls, from 17:00 to something like 10:30 or so. That's a long time to sit with 3 fouls in my opinion, especially for a team's best player. All in all I think he'd be a solid pick and would work hard to develop his game. I think he's overhyped because of his size, and the thoughts that he could be a Shaq stopper. Depending on Western Kentucky's tourny showing, and draft camps; I think his stock may fall just a bit. My guess is somewhere in the range of 7-12. I wouldn't waste our good pick on him but if we could snag him with a second first rounder I think he'd be well worth considering. He may just need to be brought along slowly. I just think he'll slow our team speed down unless he can find some better wheels. Hope this helps!
Marcus is OK. The very definition of 'Lane-Clogger'. Interesting, he's slow but more agile than I thought he would be. Should work on a sky-hook (seriously) when he goes to the next level, with his width and long arms it could be a very effective shot for him. Could be a solid rotation player, maybe a starter on the right team.
