that's a decent deal, since Josh Howard is not the player he was 2 years ago, but aside from that Rockets don't need Jason Terry, Brent Barry is just like him on the bench.

If Rafer is the fifth best option then he is fine. He keeps the team in their offense and is an underrated defender. Since Artest is Captain Crazy, I don't see the imperative in trading Battier for somebody like Hinrich and his contract.

The Bulls would want Scola. That's a no trade IMO.

Because we don't really have any big junk contracts left to go with Battier, we will likely end up overpaying for Hinrich to match his contract. I'm fine with trading Battier for an upgrade at PG, but only if we are trading for someone to provide depth at the wings as well (possibly having to trade away Alston). Your deal proposed trade leaves no depth at the wings.

Considering there's a good chance Battier plays close 30mpg or more depending on injuries/"leave" next season, his role will still be important. Doesn't make sense to upgrade point guard when you already have a decent one just to create a hole on the wings.

Never trade big for small. That's the old adage.

And even more so considering Rafer makes barely MLE level money, while Hinrich makes about 10 million per.

    Significant upgrade? I think not.

rafer is not bad at this point. Our next move should be signing Landry and locking a backup C.

Heck No. Hinrich is not worth that much. I actually think Alston can run this team better.

I only see Baron Davis & Deron Williams as upgrade to Rafer, but we just can't get them.

Hinrich is far from a " good point guard".And as you mentioned, battier is a great player who is always quite important for the rockets, then trading battier seems not a good choice.Man,Hinrich is not as good as some guys considered,I even think Mourice Williams is better than him.

It's unfortunate you can't rank a thread less than 1 star.

Just another thumbs down for hinrich and giving away 3 guys? wow, someone is over infatuated with this guy. u didn't see how the team performed better in the playoffs when rafer came back from injury?

Once Chicago signs Ben Gordon, they're gonna be looking to dump Hinrich. Our GM genius boy should be able to unload Rafer, Francis, Luther, and Novak for Hinrich.

    Hinrich/Brooks
    McGrady/Barry
    Artest/Battier
    Scola/Landry
    Yao/Dorsey/Deke

yeah Definitly. People really wanted Rafer out cause he lacks consistent scoring ,but I-Ron Man solves our Third scorer issue, and pretty much saves Rafers job. ;)

With the team the way it is now now, Rafer doesn't need to be replaced. He finally gets to play within the role that he is perfectly suited for instead of having to try to be somebody he's not.

He's a very good floor general and I think he'll run the show very well.

    Rafer is fine.

    Screw Hinrich.

13ppg 5 dimes...yeah his shooting % wasn't stellar, but he won't have to chuck as many shots this season.

Rafer is a solid starting pg and I really like the toughness he brings to the team.

That's what I was thinking except Hayes instead of Francis....if you think you'll resign Landry. I'm not one to think that Francis will come back and be great, but if Landry is signed I'd rather have Steve than Chuck.

But in all, not that enamored with Hinrich's contract. I do think he'd be an upgrade, but not that much.

But trading Battier for him makes no sense, imo. If you trade for him, you trade Rafer and change.

No thanks to Hinrich's bloated contract.
