I'm hyped like everyone else about the Ron Artest news. I plan to listen to local Houston sports radio all day to feed my obsession over this news. Any recommendations? I know there's some well-hated radio personalities, but I never kept track of them. Is there one station to stick with all day or a certain schedule where I should listen to one and then the other?

I've been leaving it on 1560 since listening to Clutch's interview this morning.

I like 610 or 790....1560 is only good in the morning

Please speak for yourself, sir. I personally do not like criminals in my teams. Quoteth the Chron.com: [rquoter]Artest, however, has been unable to stay clear from trouble. He was arrested in March 2007 and charged with domestic abuse and eventually sentenced to 20 days in jail and community service. That sentence was reduced to 10 days in a work release program. He had also been charged with animal neglect, though charges were not filed and Artest has since worked with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals on several campaigns.

In addition to his 73-game suspension after going into the stands in the Nov. 19, 2004 brawl, the longest suspension in NBA history other than for drug policy violations or gambling, he has been suspended for destroying a television camera in New York, for an altercation with then Heat coach Pat Riley in Miami and for numerous flagrant fouls.

Drafted by the Chicago Bulls in 1999, he was traded in 2002 to the Pacers, having some of his best seasons, including his one All Star season in 2003-04. Prior to the fight in 2004, he was suspended for two games for asking for a month off to promote an R&B album by a group on his production label. After his return to the Pacers the season after the fight, he asked for a trade and was placed on the inactive roster[/rquoter]

I believe in giving people chances, but I don't think this guy will EVER change for the better.

Back on topic, I listen to 740 for regular news and 610 for sports news. We should trust 610, since they're the official Rockets' station and should be able to break the news sooner. It seems, though, that Mark Berman of Fox 26 always breaks news WAY before everyone else.

1560 is good in the mornings. 610 is terrible. 790 is good for the drive home.

Hey, you can read all my posts about Artest in the GARM, I've been against picking him up this whole time, and I've still voiced my 'guarded optimism' about this trade today.

But this is very big, exciting news, whether you're for or against it.

    610 burned me

They took my favorite three guys and spread them out over the whole day

    MattJ
    Adam Wex
    Marc VanderCarr

I liked Lance and John but 1560 sucks for reception.

I listen to 790 when Rome is killing me.

It's all about the hosts, but what about the callers? This topic always gets recycled, but there is never a tribute to the callers that make these shows possible. From howard in memorial, jose the biggest rockets fan who has never visited the internets, or that dude that calls every show hoping his nickname for the D-line catches on, I salute all of you. =)

There was a caller last night on 610am that called and admitted to drinking while driving on his way home....and of course being excited about the Artest trade. Im not gonna salute him. ;) :p

When he burned us for 39, many peeps came out to say he was a perfect FIT. I was all: "WTF? A thug? Why do we want to infest our team with cancers?!?!? We got rid of all those (see Scottie Quitten, etc.) back in the 90's... and now what?"

I think we can look for the "How about Ron Artest?" threads and you'll see me in there. I'm with you, sir.

I didn't quite catch it. I think Ron Artest will be on 610 later today/tonight. Anyone else catch it?

EDIT: Nevermind, they were referring to their sister station in California. Already discussed here.

They just had a Sac sports radio guy on, maybe that's what you're thinking. I don't think Artest can still offically talk about the trade yet.

They've been talking about the trade all day pretty much. Sean and John are great in the afternoon. You can stream on the above site.

I enjoy 1560. They're goofy and get off sports at times, but it's still entertaining.
