Come on dude no one knew this was going down until it went down that includes RON RON Cut him some slack . .sheesh BEST QUOTE of the article: "For some reason, I like (Artest)," Yao said. "Because in the games we play against him, I hate him." Rocket River
exactly.. remember last year before the season started how most of us were excited about Stevie coming back? well we all know how that turned out... i gotta admit though that this time around is a lot more exciting and promising than the situation last year.. i wonder how the mav fans are taking it?
i read articles about Ron and I too believe he is a good person at heart but a bit crazy and a time bomb under stress. However I very much believe he will get a long with the rest of the team. Ron has been extremely generous to those he loves and wants a team that appreciates him. I think Rockets can give him both. 1st Yao is very approachable and I'm sure everyone agrees a genuine nice guy and will definitly approach Ron in a friendly manner. Yao will be smart enough to know how to approach Ron. Ron I believe will really like the true heart of the rocket chemisty with everyone being supportive of one another. Hes going to be good friends with Yao and open the Chinese culture with open arms. I'm sure even though his appearance and some of his acts don't seem that way but from other articles it appears he has another side. I have some friends that give the same type of vibe so I'm basing a bit of my judgement on how I feel human nature is. Mcgradys I feel is a bit more self centered but still a nice supportive guy to his teammates and will also get a long with Ron. Hopefully Ron will like it enough to stay longer. I cant wait to watch Ron and Scola back Yaos ass up when theres confrontation with another team instead of Mcgrady and Francis. Those two are much more intimidating and have size.
I like the comments from Scola better than Yao, but the deal is great, both will see the result soon. I just want to know:When is Ron going to get the shoe deal from China? Sooner is better.
Ron Artest will be engulfed into the Houston Night life. He will party hard and still have the strentgh to take on the likes of the western conference, remeber the party animal Barkley took us to the western conference finals when he should have retired. Artest will represent houston perfict, we all have to have a little edge to us living in this city. Dorsey shake hands with your new bash brother Ron Ron
Exactly what I was thinking. Yao is pulling a Berkman. Both Yao and Berkman are two of the rare prototypical "good guys" in pro sports and both made similar comments about acquiring a hot-head type of player. The Astros suck this year but Valverde hasn't been a problem. Chacon, now that's a different story.
Yao & Tmac were the ones who contacted Barry to recruit him most likely at Morey's request. Artest will be in China during the Olympics to run a personal basketball camp.
I liked what they both had to say, a surprisingly frank interview. Yao is sending a clear message - he and the players don't want him bringing his offcourt crap or a bad attitude to Houston, they want the star player they've been playing against on the court. Just as much as we need him to fire the team up, the team needs to have people who can stand up to Ron if and when he oversteps the line. Liked this part about the communication. Hopefully they integrate him and keep him from feeling alienated. I think Ron really needs to feel a part of the team and motivated, or we'll see a repeat of what happened in Indiana and Sac with him eventually wanting out. From what I remember he basically walked out on a good Indiana team and stopped playing to the disappointment of his teammates. This trade for Ron is very good considering the low risk price we paid, but it'll only be great if it all works out.
I guess I read into this differently than the rest of you. First, TMac definatly thinks we are champoinship contendars. Second, Yao's comment says to me that he believes this move gets us to the champoinship but doesnt want to come out and say that and regret it. Just wants to get past the first round before he makes a claim like that. Very encouraging story to me.
Yao was pretty blunt, like saying Artest is in a contract year. I think it'd be better to see or hear this ..to see Yao's tone and facial expressions. I'm glad we have both Yao and Scola!
I like Artest and I love this trade. But to use what an ordinary person would behave to justify what a NBA player has done on the court is hilarious. Can you imagine what happens on the basketball court during an NBA game? An ordinary person would lose his coolness and start a fight with another player at least 10 times in 35 mins of play. Being able to keep his composure even if being provoked is what a NBA player is expected to do.
this is the only way to handle ron artest. it's basically the same attitude jordan said about rodman. we want the warrior on the court who brings it 100% and is among the best at what you do. but leave the cross dressing, crazy antics and shizophrenia at home. jordan didn't want to associate with rodman, didn't want to hang with him or be friend with him off the court. that's fine. as long as they're both on the same page and yao respects artest and artest respects the team they'll be fine what yao says makes total sense... artest is a weapon on the court but I hope he's moved past all the crazy ****. that's about as rational and honest as yao could be. yao DOES see himself as the leader of the team and I'm sure he's thinking of having to be the dude to stick up for other players if artest goes off the handle (not necessarily how it would go down but im sure yao feels that responsibility). he's not prejudging artest, he's telling artest how it's gonna have to be
