I cannot remember the last time I felt so effusive about the Rockets, or any other team. Checkmate may be going overboard, but I'm there. This team has it all. We now have the goods to stack up against the elite teams. Rondo/Allen/Pierce/KG/Perkins -- Our big three is bigger than yours; battier and artest will lock down Allen and Pierce. . Billups/Rip/Prince/Wallace/Wallace -- your time is over; bat Fisher/Kobe/Odom/Gasol/Bynum -- Kobe, you thought it was bad last year with Battier in your grill. Paul/Posey/Stojakovic/West/Chandler - CP3 will wind up on his ass if he brings that attitude around Artest. Williams/Korver/Kirilenko/Boozer/Okur - Utah's not going to be able to key on Tmac any more; we will own them Parker/Bowen/Ginobli/Thomas/Duncan - Ginobli, meet Ron Ron Nash/Bell/Diaw/Stoudamire/Shaq - Window closed, Nash is out of gas. Kidd/Terry/Howard/Dirk/Dampier - Howard and Dirk, meet Battier and Ron Ron. I like it even better when I see it typed it out. We are a matchup problem now. How are THEY going to stop US. Our elite defensive unit Alston/Artest/Battier/Hayes/Deke You could even plug Tmac in there for any of the first four, depending on whether you need his athleticism/length to get a key stop. This unit could shut teams out for 5-6 minutes at a time. Elite Offensive Unit Barry/Tmac/Battier/Artest/Yao Tmac and Barry to handle the ball. Tmac and Artest can create. Yao or Artest down low. Battier and Barry to space the floor and shoot daggers from everywhere. Barry, Tmac, Battier and Artest can all cut and move without the ball. Yao Artest and Tmac can get on the glass. No weaknesses in this unit. None. Energy, Hustle and Toughness Battier. Artest. Scola. Landry. Hayes. You can toss in Alston and Deke too. Probably Dorsey also. Every single NBA player will dread playing against us. All loose balls are ours. There will be no freedom to operate in the paint. You'll get bumped and bruised. No place to penetrate. We'll be there to take a charge. Deke and Yao to block shots. Coaching and Front Office Adelman is the perfect guy to handle our newest weapon. He showed the ability to think outside the box and was confident enough to let kids play. He freaking won despite injuries, and despite having to run Novak and Brooks out there fairly regularly. Proven offensive mind and system. Shocked us all by retaining and possibly improving the defense. And finally, perhaps the worst news to the rest of the league is that Morey's going to be around for a while. Wheeling and dealing. Making moves to get assets. Spanoulis for Scola. Bonzi and James for Bobby Jackson. Picking up Memphis' 2nd rounder in 2009. Using late 1st round and early 2nd round picks to get productive youth, keeping the pipeline of talent moving. Continued Pain Pain to the rest of the league. Yao, Tmac and Artest have enough in the tank for 3-4 years. Now that Artest is around, he will take the load off 1 and 11, which will lead to better health and extend the window of opportunity. Battier/Scola/Alston/Landry are all going to be fine for that window also. With Morey running the show, we'll continue to bring in a mix of young players and veterans to fill in at PG and C. (Interviewer: Clubber Lang, what do you predict for this fight? Clubber Lang: Pain . . . ). So here's to the rest of the NBA. Sure, we'll play out the 2008 season. Your collective asses belong to the Rockets.
I pulled this from Lance Z's blog but it bears repeating. Since last year, Morey has traded the following: Vassilis Spanoulis, 25th pick in 2008 1st round pick in 2009 Bobby Jackson for Luis Scola Joey Dorsey Ron Artest Memphis' 2nd round pick next year I think that says it all, right there.
This trade was not a steal, It was a robbery!! "This town deserves a better class of criminal... and I'm gonna give it to them. Tell your men they work for me now. This is my city."
He's not finished yet. I see him trading Battier or two of (Scola, Landry, Hayes). You know he isn't going to get beat on those trades, either.
Dear Daryl, When are you going to announce that we have traded Rafer Alston, Steve Francis, Luther Head, and Steve Novak for Kirk Hinrich and the Bulls 2009 second round draft pick?
hahahahahahahahaha.... now let em play. the thing here is, morey isn't done. he'll continue to be a step ahead of everyone else. he is head and shoulders above all the other GM's in the league, the only other one i can think of Pritchard from Portland. they've got a lot of young legs and talent over there as well.
this is probably the most annoying team to play against , I can imagine how frustrate it is for our opponent to try to get a simple layup, BWAHAHAHAHA
The only thing is that Portland's had nearly a decade to rebuild. It takes real skill to suck after that many lottery picks.
for real, our team should be a legit team for awhile now. imo morey proved w/ this trade hes not playin around. not only our players and coaches but now our team staff is elite now. im not worried about losin green and a 1st. i liked greens potential and that 1st pick coulda secured our future but theres plenty of ways to build for the future. morey = money more money
Although you always cringe when your teams gives up a 1st-round pick, the fact that we have the Grizzlies' 2nd pick next year takes most of the sting out. If all goes well, our 1st-rounder at #30 will be pretty close to their 2nd-rounder at #35 or so. And we've seen what Morey can do with picks in that range.
Isn't it like: Juwan Howard Vassilis Spanoulis Bonzi Wells 25th pick in 2008 1st round pick in 2009 for Luis Scola Joey Dorsey Ron Artest Memphis' 2nd round pick next year
