Yes, please. Seriously though, I think Battier is a better team defender and is smarter in choosing his spots overall, but Artest is a lot more aggressive and stronger in a 1 on 1 situation. So they're both great.
When RonRon has his head on straight, the guy can demolish and demoralize players with his defense. Let's hope we see a lot of that next season.
We're gonna be a freak of nature on defense next year. How about this lineup. PG: TMac SG: Battier SF: Artest PF: Chucky/Doresy C: Dikembe If we could score 10 points with that squad, that might be enough to win the game.
Artest due to his natural abilities is a much better one-on-one stopper, Battier plays better D in the team concept, difficult to compare those two since they are each good at different things. Though I would rather have Artest just because he can shut down ANY player in this league when he really wants to. He;ll be given that chance since he won't have to exert himself on offense all that much.
Ron wins 1v1. In team matchups Battiers is a bit better. Man, I can't wait to see how Kobe fares against us next season.
i was telling jeremiah over the phone earlier the best part is having the other team star go up against artest and then when ron takes a breather the defense doesnt let up with battier hounding team. ron imo is the more naturally talented defender, stronger athletic, quicker but shane is the smarter defender. both are great to throw out there against the opposing teams best perimeter scorer. now we could throw both out there. man its a problem but its a WONDERFUL problem to have
I agree, Artest is the natural muscle defender, the bully types. Whiles Battier is one of the smarter defenders that you won't expect to defend so well. Battier knows his limits, he plays smart ball, and smart defense. We could always have brains AND brawl defense on the team.
