Okay so I'm sure everyone knows how I feel about him and his bloated contract. But with Artest coming to Houston, I think it's time for me to change my tune. I said in the other threads that keeping Battier would be great as our 6th man UNLESS we can get a good point guard in return. And since Les and Morey are going for all the marbles this upcoming season... Battier Francis Brooks For Hinrich I don't want to trade Alston because I believe he's a better backup point guard than Aaron Brooks would be and putting Brooks into this trade gives the Bulls a backup to Rose. Hinrich/Alston McGrady/Barry/Head Artest Scola/Hayes/(maybe) Landry Yao/Dorsey I think that projected team, barring any MAJOR injuries (God forbid), would be THE team to beat in the NBA and not just in the West.
dude.......we would be giving way to much up. We NEED to keep Battier on this team. I would rather stick with rafer and hope francis gets a fire under his ass
Depending on who else the Rockets take back. According to Feigen, Kings will be sending more than just Artest. Rockets possibly still have the cap space for LeBron or another big name in 2010.
Whats wrong with Rafer now? He knows he's the starter, and with Artest, he should know his role now. Purely to distribute the ball. We dont need to trade for a PG that passes when we have one already.
If Hinrich didn't have a bad year I would consider it,but Ron is so crazy that we are forced to keep Battier.
call me crazy, but ill be perfectly fine with rafer still being our starting PG next season. rafer really earned my trust with his play during the streak, and then in the playoffs we really saw just how much he meant to us as a floor general. if he plays with the same confidence (and i see no reason he wouldn't) i think we'll be more than ok.
If you need Hinrich that badly, would you settle for Hinrich- Lite? If you squint hard enough, clutchcityreturns looks almost like Hinrich. Also, from defending him a long time ago, he has a great shot. I'm not sure about his dribbling skills or how he does in a fast break, but I do know he navigates very well on a slippery court. Im pretty sure we can lock him for very cheap. Just consider this before we spend all our money this offseason.
I think he's been "normal" the past couple of years with the Kings. Aside from injuries, he hasn't missed a lot of time due to suspensions and what not. Nothing is wrong with Rafer. But I rather have a Hinrich/Alston platoon than an Alston/Brooks duo.
guys alston is all we need at the point. do you guys not think about what good he has done for this team? remember when he got injured???? we lost almost all those games he was gone. he runs this team, and by getting rid of him, it will throw this whole team off court!!! please just leave skip alone. i have wanted him off this team, but with the situation we are in, we cannot afford to get rid of him and start over with a new pg!!!
I'm happy w/ the team now... PG: Alston/Barry/Brooks SG: TMac/Battier/Barry/Francis/Head C : Yao/Scola/Dorsey PF: Scola/Landry (if resigned)/Dorsey/Harris SF: Artest/Battier I also love the idea of playing PG - TMac (can definitely play point) SG - Battier (good spot up shooter/defender) SF - Artest (mismatch at his position/defender) PF - Scola (hassle/the janitor) C - Yao (go to guy) in the closing minutes...
I'm in the camp of lets keep Rafer. But Rafer would be the PERFECT compliment for Rose. Rafer is a vet player who knows how to play in a system to teach Rose a few things. Rafer could even be your starter for the first two games ( ), would be good backup, and good insurance for injuries. Plus Rafer's contract would have to be included to make a trade for Hinrich work. The thought of having Battier, TMac and Artest on the court together is just too interesting to let go. S/T Landry plus Rafer plus Luther. I'd be happy with that.
http://www.sacbee.com/static/weblogs/sports/kings/archives/014187.html Maybe a PG/s? Otherwise they'll have 6 on their roster. Udrih, Jackson, Douby, Singletary, Brown, and Ewing. Possibly Douby is this year's Jackie Butler and Ewing is the throw in? http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3502700 http://www.nbc29.com/global/story.asp?s=8655973
If they include Douby, which I doubt, I'd definitely keep him. Patrick Ewing Jr, I'd waive even though he has freakish athleticism.
