Why not? That's his original position. It'd be the David Wesley syndrome all over again. Remember what happened to the Hornets in the playoffs? Playoffs......doesn't that sound good?
Isn't that one of his primary reasons he didn't want to play for the Grizzlies? Since he wanted to be a point?
I don't mind having Wink as our PG instead of SG. I think we should just run the offense around him more, instead of on Cat, KT, and sometimes even Mooch.
Steve will have to be a man and realize that he can't be a little baby and pick his position. I would hope that he used that as some ploy to get out of Canada. If Steve refuses to play anything other than PG, then what kind of team player is he? I can't believe that some people here are "afraid" to move him to another position because Steve might cry about it. If he does, then we don't need him.
I think we need to start grooming Steve as our Center. He already gets 7 rebounds a game, so I dont see why not. Exhale................................................
Ya, and we'll let Mobz play PF.......you see how he was gaurding Moses Malone in the 3 on 3 during allstar?
I'm in favor of cheating by acquiring a point-forward type to help distribute the ball. "Sure Steve, just because Lamar here will be taking over half your point duties doesn't change anything; you're still the point guard." I think Steve would be more open to such a switch to SG now than before. He already plays quite a bit of off-guard in the 4th quarter when Moochie comes in the game. I'd say the main obstacle in making such a switch (which, actually, I'm not really in favor of) is that that would relegate Cat to the bench or SF most of the time. Steve and Cuttino are too close for either of them to feel comfortable with such an arrangement unless they were convinced that was all that was separating the Rockets from becoming championship contenders. Steve, if you're reading, I don't want you at SG. I just want you and Cuttino to become good for 12-15 apg, okay? I recognize this requires the right personnel, a clicking offensive system, and perfect chemistry. But you guys can do it. I BELIEVE.
He can do both (PG and SG). He'd be a better SG, but since we have Cat... Well, we can bench Mobes and start Steve and Mooch in the backcourt. Or we can bench Mooch and start Steve and Mobely. Easy choice. Be happy that he can play both well. Flexibility...
Ladies and Gentlemen...the Houston Rockets present to you... The 5 Guard Lineup! At center, from Maryland, in his third year... Steve Francis! (Yaay!) At forward, i forget i forget, ... Cuttino Mobley! (yaay!) At forward, muffle muffle, Moochie Norris! (rrawrr!) At guard, from discoteca venezula (or whatever)... Oscar Torres (hoot hoot hoot!) At guard, in his first year ........TI - ERR - E - BROWN (RAARRR!) Let hear it Rockets fans! Your coaches tonight are Rudy Tomjanovich, Jim Boylen, and Satan. LETS HEAR IT ROCKETS FANS! (...I-SO!... I-SO!... I-SO!) p
With this line up, Steve would play the 3 spot. I would play Oscar at the 5. Maybe Steve should switch? I think he'd have a little more fun playing the SG position.
I'd go with Relativist idea. So then we'd have Francis whos a SG playing the PG and Odom whos the PG playing the SF and add Mo whos a SF playing the PF and Griffin whos a PF playing C and everyones happy It really all makes perfect sense.
