Cheddar's is awesome. It's a better value than the other similar chains. I haven't tried theirs... I think I did eat the one at House of Pies once way back when, in Houston... OK but not the same...

I've been to cheddar's once up here and i wasn't too impressed..but they have a monte cristo so i may have to go...

On a side note, in Dallas it's restaurant week again (8/11 - 8/17)...For $35 you enjoy a special three-course meal at some of the city's best restaurants. Proceeds from KRLD Restaurant Week benefits Lena Pope Home and the North Texas Food Bank. I'll be there...

Nooo! Cannot beat their Monte Cristos. Admittedly I don't go to Bennigans much (there's not one really near us) and Chilis and Cheddars are a little better, but it was still a decent place to eat and miles better than Friday's and Applebees.

Funny cause I almost kissed my wife for the first time outside a Bennigans...only to wait till later that night outside her house during a light drizzle.

    Bennigan's sucks.
    TGI Friday's sucks.
    Applebee's sucks.
    Steak and Ale sucks.
    Chili's....eh, so-so.

This is absolutely true. Remember the SRO sports bar on Cutten and 1960? They just closed.

And Sam's Boat in Willowbrook is hurting. They're not gonna last much longer.

Alright. After a bit of detective work, this is what I've found. I'm not sure which of these were closed prior to today.

First off, Bennigan's website is down.

    Now for the location results:

I'm surprised Bennigans didn't shut down years ago. The food was freaking gross, and the service was terrible. It was almost like being an ex-con was a requirement to work there.

SRO closed about a month ago. I was wondering how long they would make it after everything opened up at 1960/249. They made it longer than I thought they would. I used to like to go there because of all the TVs. But, I never really felt that "welcome" there. If you were one of the old dudes who sat at the bar smoking cigars during the day, you were god. But if you were just a dude coming in, service was slooooooooow.

Sam's Boat at Willowbrook is never going to make it. They are so hidden, alot of people have no clue it is there. It has been what, 3 different Sam's places so far?

That entire area is just weird. The places that I think will be popular aren't, and the places I think will be closed in a month stay open. Like the places in the shopping center near the movies. Outside of BW3, the sushi place and Bernie's, everything seems to close after a few months.

Back to Bennigan's, I could tell they were having a hard time. The locations all needed repairs, new carpet, new booths, chairs, etc. But year after year, they all just looked more and more run-down.

    TGI Friday's blows.

Too bad about Bennigans. Some of their stuff was okay. The Monte Cristo was good, but man I tried not to eat it because I could hear my arteries clogging just from seeing the picture on the menu.

The last time I ate at Bennigan's was after I took an impromptu road trip from Northwest Arkansas down to Dallas to watch the Rockets get plastered by the Mavs during the past regular season.

On my way home, I stopped at a Bennigan's and had a Monte Cristo. I was distraught after driving all that way just to watch the Rockets lose. Someone took this picture of me afterwards, it's pretty funny now:

The only time I ever waited tables was at Bennigan's right after HS. After that I swore I'd never wait tables or step foot inside another Bennigan's again.

Any restaurant that takes coupons... probably not a place to make money.

Not that they were getting quality food but I always busted my ass and took it personally. Most of the clientèle were awful tippers regardless of service. If I had stayed longer, I might have resorted to profiling, the idea of which I loathe.

The co-workers were ehhh shady to put it mildly. One I saw in a strip club dancing a few years back. Girl was greasier than a Monte Cristo. Strip clubs are just lame in general though.
