AI for Battier, Alston and expiring contracts trade rumors

I'm not completely sure what the purpose is either. If I'm Denver I either let him walk next season or I trade him for a solid star player. Maybe they are thinking they want to nab a guy like Battier to improve defense on the wing... or something.

 

even with yao, healthy it would be hard to imagine us getting past the second round...

our regular season records have just been teasers... teams don't double mcgrady or yao as hard as they do in the playoffs, like every posession? We can't beat Utah, and probably not the lakers or san antonio without making a change. We need a third scorer. We need someone to take pressure off mcgrady. With iverson, they could double mcrgrady as much.

Why do people use the words "gamble" and "risk" when talking about AI. AI is not a headcase. And he's not a ball hog. Its not a case of "will we have enough balls to go around?" because we were 10-15 in offense last season. There is no age risk because AI is maybe two years older than Alston and Battier. The only potential risk is this idea that we are going to drop out of the top 5 in defense losing Battier... which I don't think is the case.

Well, Ive found out that at the very least, the people in Houston who are "in-the-know" have heard about the rumor. I have a friend who's interning at 1560 and when I heard about this I texted him to ask him what the people who work there are saying about it, and he says Richard Justice told him that "It's a horrible rumor that is bound to let Houston down." So if they really are seriously discussing this trade, they're keeping it very quiet with the media, but that made me a little less optimistic that it'll go down.

If anything, you need to add the word "anymore" to the end of those two sentences. Even then, there is plenty room for debate.

 

hmmm, i doubt this is true... but lets imagine this for a second.

AI, tmac , barry, scola, yao starting 5 ??

i think our defense would suffer a little, but it might be worth it to have that much more firepower on offense.

it would probably be a big risk because ai and tmac don't seem to fit together all that well, but it would be risk worth taking. AI will probably be in the hall of fame. maybe he could even become more efficient finally playing with a big man as good as yao, and it would definitely take some of the focus off of t-mac.

we won't be good enough to win a title if we don't bring a third guy in here, so AI is probably the best player available.
