MGS4 is the bomb though. A must-have for PS3. I got my 80GB MGS bundle 2 weeks ago and have gotten GTA4 and Raw vs Smackdown 2008. Any other games to get? COD4 I will eventually, just too occupied with MGS and GTA right now to get it. Also, my PS3 plays AVI and divx files. I just copy it to the hard drive from a USB and it works. What is the best converter from mkv to a compatible PS3 format though? And how long will it take to convert a hour-long documentary? Also, with the wireless media center thing, does your computer have to be Wifi-enabled?
To do the media server thing you'll need to be on a wireless network. I believe divx (xvid?) format should work if you physically put the file on the ps3 hard drive, but it won't show up if you stream it through a media server unless you have a program that transcodes it.
? Am I misunderstanding you? I have tons of divx/xvid files on my laptop that I stream to my PS3 all the time.
I didn't love CoD4, but apparently I'm one of the few, so probably a good one to get. I myself thoroughly recommend: NBA 2k8 Burnout Paradise Condemned 2 Assassin's Creed GRAW 2 Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Rainbow Six Vegas 2 There are a number more that I enjoy, but those are the absolute cream of the crop, IMO.
Thanks for the suggestions. Those games all come highly recommended but should I just wait for NBA 2k9? I know that I will definitely get that and there won't be much of a point spending $25 on a used copy which will only be good for 2 months.
Also look into: Resistance Warhawk Oblivion (wait for Greatest Hits status for these three) The Orange Box Civilization Revolution MLB 08 The Show And if you want to some downloadable games, check out Super Stardust HD, PixelJunk Monsters, PixelJunk Eden (comes out this week), and possibly Pain (barely got this game, but it seems fun). I think all of them are $10 or less, and they're a lot of fun IMO. Several other great ones as well, but I haven't had a chance to try them out yet.
COD4, COD4, COD4, COD4, COD4, COD4 and oh yeah.. COD4. I'm on my way to becoming a 6th prestige. NBA 2K8 is cool OFFLINE. ONLINE = LAG i dont think they keep up with the servers. GTAIV is kinda fun online. free roam mode is fun.
Oh wait...apparently they are already selling these games as Greatest Hits: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/07/28/ps3-greatest-hits-launch-today/comment-page-2/ For some reason, I thought it wasn't launching for another month or two.
I've tried GTA IV online and the free roam mode. I just got killed 2 seconds after spawning. I'd have preferred it to have a capture-the-flag mode but it seems there isn't one. As for COD4 online, I'm pretty new to console gaming and my analog aiming definitely needs work. When I get COD4 I'll definitely need a week to get used to it before daring to venture online. I haven't even begun MGO yet. Is Warhawk any good if I don't have a Bluetooth headset?
It barely started this week. Gamestop online is already selling Resistance for $30: http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=60747 I think so, although it might depend on what game types you play and how serious you get. I tried using a headset, but it never really seemed that useful to me. Might be useful for some of the more tactical games out there though, but I rarely play those.
I got MGS4 last weekend. It's a helluva game, but the cut scenes are killing me. I don't have hours to sit down and play and my gametime is spent watching movie after movie. I really like Pixeljunk Monsters, but the Eden demo didn't do it for me. Resistance, CoD4, R&C, & Burnout are all good games. Warhawk was great too, but I haven't played in quite some time so I don't know if it still is (depends on who is playing). A headset really helps on Warhawk. I use an old USB one I had for my PS2. Is Heavenly Sword a greatest hit? I didn't see it on the list I saw several days ago. It and AC are the ones I might get now if they are discounted.
GET A FRAG FX!! I suck at FPS games and this thing makes me somewhat decent . Sure feels a lot closer to PC FPS gaming than using the gamepad and analog sticks.
Don't think so. I think Sony likes to make their GH games be games that have been out for a certain amount of time. I suppose Warhawk barely slipped in (August 07), while Heavenly Sword and other SCEA games didn't. Of course, I'm not sure if HS even sold enough to get put into the collection. It definitely would be a good idea though. It is a good game, but the amount of content in the game makes it hard to justify paying $60. $30 is much more reasonable. Third parties can decide on their own which games will be a Greatest Hit, which I guess is why Assassin's Creed was added (it came out in November). They don't even technically have to be sold at $30, although I guess there was an agreement by all parties to sell at that price. I wish more PS3 games would let you use a mouse and keyboard.
