Magneto's spin-off will be much better. I just hope they start shooting before McKellan gets too old. For the next 2-3 years he will be filming The Hobbit.

Since when has Liev Schreiber been a straight to video actor? They wanted a real actor because the role is too important to cast with an ex wrestler.

I agree completely. Unfortunately Marvel doesn't have the rights to the X-Men and I believe they renewed that license. So Sony, or EA, or both, or whoever, owns the X-Men's rights. So we can't get an Iron Man type treatment. The Spiderman license is also definitely someone else's property for a long time, it was renewed recently.

Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool? I know he's a humorous character, but I don't think Ryan Reynolds' humor is the same.

Gambit all depends on his accent. Where's his pupils at?

Is this movie being produced by Marvel Studios, or is it by the same studios who own X-Men (Fox i think it is)?

That's one down. This is done by Fox who did one and a quarter decent X-Men movies out of three, two craptastic Fantastic Four movies and a daredevil movie with a decent director's cut, but a turd of a cinematic feature. All of these movies were done lazily and have loads of fox executive influence on them.

If Marvel Studios were doing it, it would be a very different flick.

Ryan Reynolds is great for Deadpool, but they show again they are allergic to anything close to the comic costumes. Dude needs a mask.

McKellan won't be in it, but if he is it will only be as a narrator telling the back story. The movies are called X-Men Origins, so it will be his origin...even though he isn't in the X-Men.

OK I should have been more clear in my post: 1. Marvel Universe. Any Marvel comic or character. I'll go see.

And now that you've brought it up (along with a few others) 3. Ryan Reynolds.

I'm still going to see it.

The main thing i dislike about Wolverine is his invincibility. I know he's not really invincible but he heals from almost everything (sounds like the same thing to me too). It gives him the feel of Superman or some other crappy DC comic. Omega Red would be cool but they'll probably just focus on Wolverine's origins so much that it'll be boring.

You sure about that? I thought they said they would use CGI to make McKellan and Stewart look younger...

You can't have Ian McKellan, even with CGI, playing a himself at half his age or even younger. It will be a different actor portraying him for the bulk of the movie.

He's barely in the trailer so how do you know exactly how they'll portray him? I'm no expert on Deadpool, but I assume he wears the mask because he's disfigured and that doesn't happen to him until Weapon X tries to give him Wolverine's healing factor.

In May 2006, Ian McKellen said he would reprise the role using the computer-generated facelift applied to him in the prologue of X-Men: The Last Stand. Lauren Shuler Donner stated that the film would need McKellen to anchor the story, which would take place in flashbacks. With Goyer's hiring in 2007, it was said actors in their twenties would play the characters. McKellen reiterated his hope to bookend the film in July 2008.

I never cared for McKellan's Magneto. He is a great actor sure. But Magneto? Meh. Am I crazy?

BTW, Magneto is my favorite character of all time.

I've always thought Magneto was a great Marvel comic book character, much better than the X-Men themselves who I never liked that much. Because of the wow factor, the cinema breathes life into the X-Men.

I agree Magneto is a better character, especially than Wolverine but i don't think you can do him justice on screen. It's just impossible to make an elderly man seem that menacing. McKellan looked weak and that's never what Magneto is intended to look like.

Why did Gambit just throw a regular card. Not charged up or anything. Atleast that what it looked like.

Anyway, looks like it could be awesome. I wanna see some blood when he stabs people though.
