2 years (second year is a player option) and 8 million. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3508699 Pretty good deal, I think. He's a bust as a number one pick, but he defends, can rebound, and is a legit center. That's worth 4 million a season to me even if the offense is horrible.
Inconsistency on defense will be the biggest issue. The Pistons undoubted want to improve their post defense.Kwame is very lucky to get a deal like this one.
Ahahaha, Rasheed is going to beat the crap out of him...even though he is an underachiever just like Brown (albeit a more successful one).
Another one bites the dust. How many more teams with their MLE intact and looking to upgrade their frontcourt depth?
I think Detroit is actually good place for him, where he is around competent players and coaching staff. He is decent at times. Not a bad pick-up
you might be onto something. why sign a 5th big guy when the first 4 are supposed to be in the rotation? sheed-maxiel mcdyess-amir johnson sure they are all 4's, and brown gives them a legit 5. still, i see a move on the horizon.
I understand the logic behind signing him but he isn't a Dumars type of guy. If he does well fine, but he could drive anyone nuts too. Joe D said he isn't going to tolerate players who won't bring it every night.
Exactly. When he starts bumbling easy passes & rebounds and commits the stupidest fouls known to mankind, I wanna see how the Pistons brass and their fans react. What makes it very hard to take is Kwame doesn't have much upside to counterbalance when he goes cuckoo. When fans boo and Kwame gets criticized, he goes into a shell and plays even worse. The best situation for him is a franchise with no demands of winning and a lax culture where people don't care about NBA basketball. Memphis would have been a perfect match.
man....now it gives landry's agent more reason to stall us. Can't believe trash lik this can get 4 MIl per
7ft and healthy trash mind you. Mm. 6 fouls and size to fill the lane? I would figure their other bigs will be good help-defenders for him as well.
kwame's kinda laid back and sheed can be crazy, but kwame has to have 30 or 40 pounds on sheed and he's definitely stronger. yeah, he's definitely not a "little things" kinda guy. he can play pretty good post defense, and on actual centers, but his body control, hands, and bball IQ are all very low. so if you can just ben wallace him out of the offense and just make him guard someone for 15 minutes a game, you might be able to make it work. definitely true, but just about any place except new york or boston is waayyy better than playing for the lakers. that was way too high profile and in the spotlight for kwame. detroit may be contenders, but they're not flashy enough or popular enough to garner all that much attention so maybe he can just blend in a little better. i always feel bad watching him play because he seems like a fairly quiet, unassuming guy who doesn't want the spotlight and is especially sensitive to criticism but who just happened to have an nba body. of course, then i remember he's makes millions of dollars a year and don't feel quite so bad.
the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this was...instead of darko who was a no.2 pick bust they now get them no.1 pick bust...a nice upgrade..diff drafts though.
