The caphold is only double your previous seasons salary - so about $7million for Scola.

We'd have his bird rights after his 3rd season, so there's no need to freak out at all - we ought to be at least $20million under the cap anyway, so there's still plenty to throw at Lebron and then sign Scola.

Scola is going nowhere. He is hanging tight with Yao in China right now.

Do you know how much Scola has already sacrificed to playing for the Rockets? He could sign a long term contract with Tau last year, but he declined and insisted to sign with Rockets for much less money. And he need to pay most part of the buyout money because the NBA only allowed pay 500K to buyout a foreign player's contract. IIRC, The buyout for Scola was 1.5m last year, so he has payed one million from his own pocket to buyout himself. Please understand, for some players like Luis Scola and Yao Ming, money is not everything they care about. We are lucky both of them play for this franchise.

As for trading Scola(presuming his leaving after his contract is over) to get something back, what player can you get for 3m salary? If I'm the GM, I'd rather let Scola play out the contract, then try to persuade him to change his mind. At least in these two years, we'll have a very good player as our starting PF.

Nanjing, China. China, Argentina, Serbia, Angola, Iran, and Australia are there to play in the Fiba Diamond Tournament, which starts tomorrow.
