I've often wondered why we drafted Dorsey, given our depth at the 4. Maybe Morey sensed problems with resigning Landry. If so, and Landry bolts, and Dorsey turns out to be a stud, kudos to Morey.

I know that it's fashionable to repeat that $1.55 = 1E over and over again... but if you would bother to do a bit of research, it doesn't change the fact that european teams can't support huge salaries which is why they top out in the middle seven figures - only for the biggest stars on the biggest clubs, which operate at a loss in many cases. (Unless you're the kind of slack-jawed yokel who believes that Bostjan Nachbar is making $14 million a year cause you heard it on Skopje public radio - in which case you have my apologies and advice not to see Borat as it may be offensive to you)

There is zero chance of this rumor being true in the way its posted by Fran. Ceramic Tiles is already spending its money on Tiago Splitter - the chance of Carl Landry being made the highest paid player in Europe, by Ceramic Tiles, of all teams, is remote to put it gently.

What's his best case scenario? Becoming an undersized version of Kelvin Cato?

If essentially swapping what Landry brings for that sounds appealing to any you I don't know what to say.

I love Landry. I am a HUGE believer in his potential.

But $7 million is ridiculous. 8 points and 5 rebounds per game should NEVER be worth $7 million.

If he really got a $14 million 2 year offer, he would have signed it by now. The Rockets can only offer the MLE. Rocks don't have his bird rights.

The biggest problem I see with Blindbury's theory is if Dorsey takes Landry's backup minutes at the 4 or 5 and either Deke or Hayes or on the court together that would spell ugly. Novak appears to be gone and he really wasn't a legitimate option at the 4. Leunen is a rookie that isn't expected to contribute this season. Landry while not a prolific offensive threat is certainly better than the alternatives. So losing him would hurt the team more than many on this board think.

On the bright side I don't believe Tau is going to offer him that kind of money.

I think Fran is talking out of his hat, as usual. We haven't the slightest idea if Dorsey can be as good as a healthy Landry. We don't know if he'll be able to stay on the court and out of foul trouble (Landry was figuring out the refs). We don't know if he has any kind of a reliable jump shot (highly unlikely, imo... Landry has shown some skill there at times). We don't know if he'll ever learn to make a free throw with anything close to a decent percentage (Landry can). Yes, he is ripped. He's obviously strong. Hell, he could probably do pushups with Landry sitting on his back, lol, but can he make it in the NBA? Right now, we don't know, and neither does Fran.

I don't want to overpay for Landry, but it is absolutely nuts to think we know we have his replacement in Dorsey.

I agree and i've been saying this all along too. It's precisely why when push comes to shove I would give him the MLE if that's what it takes to keep him here.

Given our inability to get out of the first round, injury problems and lack of a third option i'm one of those "Are we good enough?" guys. Mind you, i'm on the fence with Landry still on the team. If you do something horrific like swap Dorsey for Landry I can't feel comfortable about our chances out West.

Yeah, we would still be good but Landry is key to our second unit. Use the Utah series as a gauge. We struggled when he didn't get minutes and played our best when he did.

B-Jax/Brooks/Head are either hit or miss. Greene/Barry will likely be the same way. We need an energy guy like Landry off the bench that can get his own shot & mix it up.

Anyone here who thinks it's fine to replace Landry with Dorsey -- I don't want to hear a peep from you next season about how we don't have enough offensive weapons on the floor.
