How can you track an IP address ?

    I am curious if you can track down someone's IP addy from an internet message board?

    I know that admin's can do it, but can other people do it as well?

    I am wondering if there are people with multiple user IDs who post as different people and if there is a way to track them from an end user perspective.

    Without access to the ACP, I don't think there is a way through the vBulletin software.

    Wasn't there a story a while back about a guy who got in an argument with a guy on an Internet forum, found his address by somehow figuring out his IP, confronted and killed him? Anybody remember something like that?

    Look on Spurstalk there is a guy that was banned here.....

    I believe he has the following accounts over there:

    IndaZone
    KillBillPana

    on YouTube

    Black Lab (something or other)

    And also left over from here:

    The Ninth Gate
    BExcellent
    PopRocks
    KillBillPana
    Apollo
    BBallScientist

    Etc..etc...etc.....he has properly been banned here, I want to see if he is one and the same there.

    I know for a fact that PopRocks = Indazone = BlackLab(youtube guy)....

    If it is him....I am going to block him but want to track his IP addy.....as you can have multiple IDs but usually they have the same IP.

    Yes, his name was David Wayne Dakotaious -- he was from the central Texas area and was never caught.

    That is how I busted him.....I got an email from the BlackLabs guy at YouTube saying the same thing as Indazone said in a PM...which seemed very fishy to me...

    Like the Email said "see I told you he lived next door etc" and I have NEVER corresponded with him....EVER...

    Anyone know who runs Spursreport? Everytime someone posts it keeps the IP that the post came from....I would like to ask them to look into it....
