again, it's fine to believe landry is staying as a rockets in the upcoming season. in fact, that's almost everyone's belief AFAIK.

however, your insistence of mentioning made up numbers like 500k is totally undermining your arguement. At least acknowledge how much more the european clubs are offering compared to their US counter parts and talk about the facts...

furthermore, be aware that Landry doesn't even NEED to want to go to europe for the rockets to be reversely affected. All his agent needs to do is to get a legitimate interest from a top euro club (which may or may not be realistic atm), and morey's leverage will be severely undermined by such interest. He'll have to either call Landry's bluff, or start to negotiate a possibly much larger contract than desired to stay competitive. -- and I bet neither is the ideal situation Morey would want to be find in.

again, it is okay to believe that none of our players is going anywhere. Personally I would agree that assessment as well. but when you start to use made up facts to support your opinion, it just becomes so much worse to take it seriously...

    Nachbar Bolts For Russia

The New Jersey Nets have lost Bostjan Nachbar to Russian powerhouse Dynamo Moscow, the New York Post is reporting.

Nachbar is getting three years at $14.3 million, but he estimates it's more like three years for $30 million due to exchange rates and tax implications.

"For starters, here you lose half to taxes," he said.

"I'm happy with this deal, extremely happy. It's a once in a lifetime deal," Nachbar said. "I just couldn't turn it down even though I always wanted to stay in the NBA, and I wanted to remain with New Jersey."

This could become more comon than some think.

Nachbar gets about $30 million but it's mostly because of the taxes. The exchange rate on $14.3 million dollars is $14.3 million dollars. He's getting about 9 million Euros if we convert it to Euros.

The NBA should put a rule into effect that if a player leaves the country to play they can never play in the NBA again IF they want to stop this from taking place.

It's called a reference point. Landry if he were to go overseas would IMO get 4 mil a year and he is probably going to get 3-3.5 mil when he signs his new contract in the NBA. Sitting and taking my 500k literally as if I'm stating it as a fact shows your intelligence level. How bout you go into every thread on here talking about who we may or may not sign and go off on everyone who took their best guess on what said player will sign for. You have to put some range of a dollar amount in this argument otherwise there is no argument. To some up stop being a jerk and nitpicking posts, capeesh?

I agree and I don't think that any of the players mentioned have a wish to play in Europe but...

Euro League is behind NBA the top basketball league, you can't imagine how many quality players are out there and with every year they are closer and closer to the NBA.

Even Michael Jordan said that they're not far away from the NBA but they're not equal in a marketing way, industrial and now you can argue about the things American do better than European or vice versa but indeed European basketball is every year much tougher and better to watch.

Please forward this thread to the Carl Landry and the NBA players association. They obviously didn't get the message.

There's a word called consumption. Yao can make huge fortune if he's not so selective on the ads. But it's true that he's the type that never compromise will for money.
