Of winning the Super Bowl? Probably not. Going to the playoffs? Of course they have a chance. They are improving. Stop being a troll.
I'll say no because there are too many teams (6, by my count) that are roughly equal fighting for the second wild-card slot. Tiers 1-3: NE, IND, JAC, PIT, SD Tier 4: BUF, CIN, CLE, DEN, HOU, TEN Tiers 5-7: BAL, KC, NYJ, MIA, OAK I'll predict all the Tier 1-3 teams make it, leaving 1 spot for Tier 4. I'd probably give all those Tier 4 teams between a 15% and 25% chance to make the playoffs.
Nope. Still need more weapns on offense and defense and everyone else in the AFC South is still better than the Texans.
Dude, did the Titan is still in our division. Did you forget? Titan Vs. Texans QB - Wash, VY suck and Matt is still uproven/injury prone Sage has only started 5 games too, so he only has potential. Potential goes to Texans RB - Wash - They draft RB in 2nd round each year it seems, and they all end up busting. Our running game suck too, but we have Gibbs now, who have been in the top 5/10 in rushing his whole career. Potential goes to Texans, Titans have no hope at the running game. WR - Texans, obvious. TE - Texans, Owen Daniels/Joel Dressen vs. Bo Scaife? HA! OL - Titans, they were one of the best last year, Proven. FB - Texans DL - Titans, close to wash, but can't ignore how they manhandle us last year. LB - Wash, only one good LB on each team. DeMeco for us, Keith Bulluck them. Potential - Texans, Xavier Adibi is going to be special, Zac Diles might also be pretty good. DB - Titans, close to wash. Right now they are set at FS, SS, and #1 CB. ST - Wash. Titans have the best kicker in the AFC, we got a pretty good one and a question mark at ST. Andre Davis did good last year in the return game, but it was his only good year at it. Jacoby lit it up in pre-season, didn't come back the same after injury. They lost Pac-Man so their return game is also a question mark. Potential - Texans. Base on the return game, which could be huge this year, or disappointing. Overall, I see us topping the Titans this year, and finally overcoming the playoffs hump. I think we're going to be at 10-6, while the Titans go 6-10. They'll end up getting high picks in the draft, and blowing it on unknown talent again.
If the Titans made the playoffs last year, the Texans have just as good a chance than anyone else in the league. /end thread
I think the Texans are a solid average NFL team and may be a contender in another year or two; but I think the 08/09 schedule sets them up for an avalanche of bad momentum both halves of the season. If they let the Baltimore game get away, they could easily start 0-5 though I think they have passed the Titans by and should beat them. I predict 4-3 at the bye, lose 6 straight coming out of the bye, everyone becomes dejected, but they finish with a 3 game win streak, finish 6-10, jobs are saved but everyone is pissed the whole next off season. To have a successful playoff season they will have to beat Indy at least once, go 2-2 against Jacksonville and Tenn, and go 2-1 vs. Minnesota, Green Bay and Cleveland. This will be the best team the Texans have ever had, unfortunately our schedule is absolutely brutal and while the playoffs are a real possibility, it will be really tough to make it.
The Titans picked up Alge Crumpler, he's gonna be a big target for VY. I think that's a wash at best but I'd give the edge to the Titans. I hope you're right but a lot of people underestimated the Titans last year and they still went 10-6. On paper, we seem to be the better team. But Fisher and crew will always put out a tough team that will give any team a run for their money.
Ok, let's say the Texans DO go 4-3 before the break. Now, you're saying we're going to lose 6 straight after the break, but under the Kubiak regime, this team has had a STRONG home field advantage, and I don't see what would change that now. Considering that our 2 home games in that span are against Cincinnati (a team that is on a major downhill slope) and Jacksonville (ON MONDAY NIGHT! The stadium is going to be ROCKING), I think it's safe to say that we have a very good chance of going 2-4 in that span, which would then put us at 6-7. If we finish with the 3 game streak at the end you're talking about, that would put us at 9-7.....our first winning season in history. I think it's easier to be a pessimist than a realist.
i only posted that to counter titans smack!!!! (after i saw us in the preseason, i was pretty convinced we weren't going to have a good season) the titans are, to me, like the cowboys and the yankees...no matter how many games they win, the titans will always suck.
I understand, and feel the same way about the cowboys/yankees/OU/Aggies etc....just thought i'd point it out while they are 5-0
