The Bonzi trade was a decent deal. Think what other teams gave away to save a bit on the salary or get under the tax. I think the picks that turned into David Lee, Nate Robinson, Luol Deng have all been traded in salary moves. Rockets, I believe traded a 2003 or 2004 first rounder to get rid of salary (Glen Rice or Amaechi or something?). There is also Spurs giving Rockets Scola to get rid of Butler.

All that Rockets got to get rid of the extra year of Mike James' salary (and I think avoid luxury tax last season) was a half-season rental of Bonzi. Not too bad at all.

I'll tell you who should really just try playing over seas: Bonzi Freakin Wells. I think i can still buy his jersey at Foot Action. What a waste of space. Think of all the Luther Head jerseys they could put in place of those.

I think that this thread should be moved to the "Houston Rockets 2008: Game Action & Roster Moves" forum since there seems to be so much discussion concerning Bonzi Wells as far as what he was for the Rockets and a debate on whether the Rockets should sign him during this current offseason.

If the Rockets ever chose to sign Bonzi, then they would end up having two players on the team who know Coach RA's offensive system.

I'd take him back for the minimum. I dont think either party is interested though.

Interesting fomer Rockets free agency news

    link

Hornets want to extend Ryan Bowen an offer but unlikely to re-sign Bonzi?

does that tell us something about these two fomer Rockets? (reminds me JVG's love on Bowen & Morey traded Bonzi for expiring contract)

don't know if this belongs in GARM, if not please lock.

Clearly, Van Gundy has his claws in the Hornets organization.

Not surprising. Ryan = good locker room influence, always practices and plays hard. Bonzi...well, you know.

I would have put it there except Bonzi is not a Rocket anymore.

Good to see Denver has stopped their habit of signing knuckleheads...

Bonzi is garbage. I think he's done.

Gambles on defense, can't hit his freethrows, can't shoot outside of 12-15 feet, and for a guy whose game is supposedly based on thriving around the low post, 43% shooting ain't gonna cut it.

I do like his rebounding and toughness taking it strong to the rim though.

Ultimately, we don't have the roster space, nor the money to get him.

Rockets dont have a roster spot for anybody, technically. There were no roster spots for Brent Barry or the draft picks. Unless you mean there's no specific role or need he'd fill then yeah, kinda agree..
