Pretty much a lateral move for them. Azuibuike is younger and perhaps has a little bit more upside, but you save roughly 3 million on Evans. It's worth it for Golden State.
How is 2.2 m per out of our range when we have a 2.5m trade exception. Don't believe bs, the rox are sitting on their hands and holding their pieces while good depth players are being signed. He basically produces what shane does for 30% of the money. Go figure.
landry for 3.5 mio $ and evans for 2 mio $ would have fit nicely with the mle. too bad landry still has no new contract. evans could have really helped us.
I thought Evans would be a great fit for our team. I think the biggest problem we're facing right now is finding places on the roster for these guys. 15 roster spots are available, barring trades: 1) T-Mac 2) Yao 3) Battier 4) Rafer 5) Scola 6) Hayes 7) B-Jax 8) Barry 9) Brooks 10) Head 11) Greene 12) Francis 13) Novak Those are players under contract, here are players we may sign: 14) Landry 15) Deke 16) Dorsey That alone puts us 1 spot over the maximum. If we want room for any of these free agents we will have to either: -Sign 1 of Landry/Deke/Dorsey to have an extra spot for a FA -Make a small trade (like has been discussed in the GARM) -Cut a player and eat the contract, they just resigned Novak so I can't see them doing this with him. Hayes and head both make around 2 mil, but I couldn't see either of them getting cut because Hayes is valuable and Head may be able to get us something in return due to his expiring contract. What I've convinced myself of is that our MLE is going to be spent Landry/Deke/Dorsey. Of course, Deke may take the vet minimum. What seems to be happening is Novak/Head will be dealt to free up a roster spot, that will let us sign Landry, Deke and Dorsey. The only logical way we can get another player in here would be to make a 3 for 1 trade, or a few 2 for 1's. I'm no GM, but that's my opinion. Pugs
someone tell them they have enough wings. beidrins-turiaf-perovic jackson-harrington-wright-hendrix maggetty-randolph-crochere ellis-evans-belineli williams hawks of the west?
PG Ellis, Williams SG Jackson, Azub, Belinelli SF Maggette, Azub, Randolph PF Harrington, Wright, Randoph, Turiaf C Biedrins, Turiaf That is a fairly balanced teams in terms of backcourt and frontcourt as well as veterans and youth. Much depends on Ellis's transition to PG--but I am not sure if this isn't the best Warriors team we have seen in a while. Should be much better in rebounding and interior defense than they used to be (which there were among the worst in the league at)--just a question of whether their offense totally fall apart or not.
We actually used a trade exception to make the McGrady trade work. A good example of this occurred in 2004 when Houston traded Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley and Kelvin Cato to Orlando for Tracy McGrady, Juwan Howard, Tyronn Lue and Reece Gaines. As a single trade, it could only be simultaneous since multiple players were moving each way. However, Houston was able to reorganize the trade into three separate trades. In one trade, they acquired McGrady and Gaines for Mobley and Cato. In another trade, they acquired Howard and Lue using an existing Traded Player exception from their earlier Glen Rice trade. That left them trading Francis essentially by himself for nothing, which generated a new Traded Player exception in the amount of Francis' base year value http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#69
