this is something I was thinking about, randomly, the other day. it seemed to fit better here in the Rockets forum than in the hangout. I promise I'm not just posting this here to get more Rockets forum exposure and to increase my paltry chances against Behad in the Best Poster tournament. . . anyway, here goes: when the Rockets win their next World Championship, what do you think it will feel like? do you think it will not seem as sweet since we've already had our title cherries popped? or do you think it will feel even better since we've had the taste but not for awhile? would we be happier if it vindicates rudy, or would be sadder for winning it without hakeem? I'm just curious to hear anyone's thoughts on whether the next title will be as personally satisfying and why. . . oh, and there's a poll.
For me, I first became a Rockets fan back in '92. I didn't have to suffer through any losing seasons by '94 when they won, so it was sweet, but not as sweet as it will be after I've went through this rebuilding phase for several years now.
Sweeter. Not many teams cana scend to the moutaintop, then build themselves back up again, w/o signing a big free agent. When the Rockets win their next title, it will be expecially sweet.
The short answer is that it will feel...different. The first championship was kind of like losing your virginity for *all* sports fans in the city. Nothing can be *that* again, but the second (and any subsequent) championships all have a different set of charms, and are special in their own way. Can't really compare which is "better."
