I was watching the Phoenix game on video tape again today, and man, does our offense look good. When there are 5 people who can score on the floor at the same time, it makes it hard to double team one of our guys. Walt, KT, Steve, Cat, EG....all of them are a threat, and the offense was just flowing with them on the floor together. Passes were zipping around, KT was rolling to the basket..not just from the high post either. I think I see Rudy's plan, and I also think we have the players that can make it work, with Mo T, and Rice coming back healthy, and everyone else getting a year older, this team could be a real threat in a year or two. Defense needs to improve, but people that are playing good offense generally put more effort into defense too. DaDakota PS. I must give props to Cat for his great 4 assist game last night, and that flip pass to KT on the pick and roll for a KT layup was a thing of beauty....
Exactly what I have been preaching all year long. Missing Walt, Mo and Rice has affected the Rockets scheme more than people want to believe. All three of these guys can hit the wide open shot even though 2 of three are streaky at best. Mo Taylor can hit the mid-range with consistency and that is what we need when the guards penetrate and kick out. Steve and Cuttino might have more trust in these guys as well to pass the ball to them. I honestly believe that with the play of Cato and the emergence of Kenny Thomas will help bigtime in the future. Also I hope that Griffin can get into the weight room and learn some inside moves for next year. We still need to pick up someone who demands attention in the post especially for games that are close at the end.
Damn, Dakota, just the title of the thread got me. I hope you're right. The offense does appear set. As far as defense. I think that Cuttino and Steve have the ability to do it. So do Eddie, Cato , KT, Torres. MoT might be a little weak, but he does supply some bulk which is needed for the defense of certain players. With Eddie and Cato we have enough shotblocking to help if MoT's player gets around him. Forget about Shaq and his junior partner Kobe for awhile. We do have the talent to be at least a Milwaukee, a Sacramento etc in just a year or two.
DaDakota, I have to hand it to you. I disagree with some of your posts, but you definitely aren't 100% lopsided in your posts. You do have criticisms-a-plenty to dish out, but it's nice to see that you give a post to the flip side as well. I applaude your even-handedness.
I'm glad to finally read a positive post from you too DaDakota...it's good to hear that you might actually like the Rox, but after tonight's game against the Lakers, that silver lining just turned a little bronze.
I see the silver lining also Without one of the top players in the game, we still got our ass kicked! Until Shaq or Kobe retires or get injured, the Rockets are not a threat to the real basketball teams. Also the theory of pulling shaq away from the basket ony proves dunks are better than fancy ass 3's.
ummm?????? do the suns have a center? a power forward? a decent coach? this explains why the grizzles could have stomped the suns saturday night
I think this team has talent, but doesn't know how to win yet. Give em a year where everyone is healthy and the lightbulb will go off, just like Dallas. DaDakota PS. I really wish we would have kept Najera, he has the toughness that this team lacks overall.
Being from Oklahoma and watching this guy play in college I couldnt agree with you more. He brings hustle and energy to the game and this guy knows the game of basketball as well. I was happy as you know what when we picked him only to be dissapointed later on that night.
That good feeling lasted about a day until the Lakers came to town. Phoenix is lottery bound ( probably) like us. The Lakers exposed our weaknesses - guys' shot doesn't fall, same guys still jack it up until we fall behind by 20.
