I think to miss seeing more of Bruce Wayne in TDK is to have missed the point of the movie. TDK is about two psychopaths facing off against each other. As The Joker repeatedly pointed out, there is something very very abnormal about both of them. Bruce Wayne is not a psychopath -- he's just a front, an alter ego much like Clark Kent. The Batman is who he really is, as Rachel alluded to in her note to Bruce.
I don't think this movie is for the mentally retarted(aka people who only watch movies because of explosions and boobs)
I think a lot of this film was done in Chicago, if I'm not mistaken. Therefore, it probably looks a lot like that particular city, rather than one more fiction-based. Nevertheless, if it was filmed in a real city, it would seem to be that it would feel like "it could be a realy city."
damn, it's now at #1 on the imdb top 250 by a large margin (9.5 to The Godfather's 9.1). i figured it would come down a little from the initial 7000 votes where it had a 9.6 but it's rating has actually increased now with 23000 votes up to 9.7.
so you base your film criticism on what people watch it? great. let you know the guy in the very front had a "REVENGE OF THE SITH" tshirt on. I got their about 45 minutes before show time and the line was out the wazoo.
Pretty r****ded analysis. I think there are tons of people, myself included, who are far from fan boys. However, we recognize a great cast, and movie, when we see one. I hope you check it out and judge it on its own merit, not based on who already has claimed to like it or not like it.
Word. We went into the theater (holds 500 people says the sign), about 45 minutes early, and thought we were going to have our choice of seats. Well, nope, we didn't. All the seats were filled in the middle, so we had to go near the top (had to be 4 rows behind us). Only place where we could reserve six seats. The bottom filled up, too.
For anyone who wanted to rewatch the joker's magic trick... spoilers i guess? <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hsxa8oCPZzM&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hsxa8oCPZzM&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
I thought it was very good. Some gripes (for me) was the sound mix made it difficult at times to make out the dialogue. Maybe it was just the volume in the IMAX I went to -- the music and explosions, etc. overpowered the spoken words. I thought it was difficult to discern what was going on in some of the action sequences. It also seemed like Nolan was trying to fit in a lot of stuff into this movie; he had a lot of very interesting ideas, so I don't mind that so much. But because there was so much going on, some plot threads weren't fleshed out or resolved as well as I would have liked.
I gotta just come in on the Superman stuff. Nothing about Superman is decent. Convince me otherwise. I beg you. The guy is a joke. Every great hero, every great villain, they have a flaw. Marvel comics was entirely based on heroes with flaws. Whats Superman's? Kyrptonite? Its so... Its a joke.
That one part where Dent screamed to the cop in the bed, someone in the movies screamed.. that was pretty funny. I haven't read the whole thread, but how did Superman get involved with the discussion? Everyone knows Batman's sheer badassness alone would beat Superman to a pulp. Let's hope there wouldn't be a "Superfriends" movie. Batman's stare alone would make Superman and all the other superheroes cry.
I think this is a case where every single person who was associated with this movie really delivered. The advertising people who hyped the movie, the actors, the directors, the towel boy, the writers, the editors, eveybody delivered.
I still love Burton's vision of Batman... It's just a different interpretation of the the batman mythology in their film, ones a fantasy visual treat while Nolan is more of a crime procedural detective story... People saying it's the best movie ever, clearly haven't seen too many movies...
