INteresting. I wonder how long it will take for the decrease to be reflected at the pump.

well since the price just went into effect you can expect it to drop early next week if the price doesnt fluctuate, but if the gas stations in your area keep the price up even with the wholesale price being low i wouldnt expect relief. Its a good thing if you own a gas station because even if you charge 3.75 (that would be a bargain right now) you are still making .25 per gallon.

    Good news.

Do you think idiots will go out and sign 6-7 year notes on large SUV's?

I think the U.S is lacking a huge nationwide mass transit system.

I wish we had those bullet trains that Japan has.
I'd ride those all the time.

NOT dallas. We don't want those freaks coming here. And of course, we don't want to go there.

It's down from a couple weeks ago (at least in the Bay Area). Bought gas for $4.47/gal today versus $4.57/gal last time.

Not any more than they already have been. Having been a debtor's attorney for alomost 6 years (before recently giving it up), I can tell you that people who want an SUV have convinced themselves that having an SUV is part of the cost of living.

People have convinced themselves that they have to have an SUV for their children, etc. It defies logic.

What I have noticed in the Clear Lake area is interesting. There are 4 gas stations within a hundred yards of each other...the price change over the last week goes like this:

    (1) A Mobil station down from $3.99 to $3.95.
    (2) A Shell station with no change, still at $3.99.
    (3) A Shell station with no change at $3.99.
    (4) A Chevron station down from $4.09 to $3.95.

Who in the hell is pricing this stuff?

I'm very skeptical of this claim. Do you have any data on gas prices around election seasons? Which elections are you referring to? Also, do you have any reason to believe that prices will rise immediately following the election, other than that they have a few times in the past?

I've noticed a two cent or so drop at the stations around where I venture. Luckily I haven't been having to drive as much lately, so I've only been having to fill up every 10 days or so.

Everything is cyclical. They fought for almost 3 years just for the right to fly in Texas. The big boys sued them for everything under the sun. Sad to see them use the tactics they once found so distasteful but when it so directly threatens your business model you do what you can I guess.

As clients became fewer and fewer for the small (non-mill) practitioner, I realized that I was no longer making any money. About that time (as I was starting to panic), I received a job offer from a local firm that represents mortgage lenders in bankruptcy court. It was a difficult decision, but I joined the "dark side of the force."
