Baylor Bear senior. More likely a summer league invitee than being drafted.

Okay, dont meant to raid another Aussie parade (like with Newley)

but Bruce is not an NBA player either.

that comment about Nash with better shooting is insane at best.

Yeah, why would he go undrafted if he was a Nash with shooting? Hed be a first round pick easily.

Hes just having a really great workout/camp thats all

It's a description. Name a famous player whose game people are familiar with and they will understand.

Alternatively compare his game with Link Stoney from Estonia and people won't have a clue.

True, but when comparing players, the comparison made should have SOME legitimacy. Bruce is not nearly as quick as Nash, isn't all that great at creating shots for teammates, and played like ass, if at all, almost his entire last year at Baylor. I've watched him play for the last four years now, and as scary as he was to go against his first two years, his game seemed to digress and he lost playing time towards the end of his career. Don't know if there was some injury or something else bothering him, but it was hard to watch him go from a 30 min a game guy to a 10 min or less scrub. Now, when he was on his game, the one likeness he had to Nash was creating his own shot. But on the whole, I'd be shocked to see him on an NBA roster next year. We'll see....

Here are his 4 year stats from Baylor, by the way. One could argue that the team depended on him a lot more early in his career, which accounts for some of the drop off. But from what I saw, he just looked like a different player as his years as Baylor went on.

Who would you compre him to? BTW, thanks for your write up. There's not much reported on Bruce's college career.

    Here's another opinion:

No prob....I wasn't trying to attack you, btw, I just didn't really agree with the comparison to Nash. As a Texas fan, I get to see just about every game they play, which is typically 2 or 3 times a year vs. Baylor. One thing I did agree with about that write-up you found is that Bruce is actually a pretty solid defender. How was Rex Chapman as a defender? For some reason, that's who Bruce reminds me of. Bruce is probably a better ballhandler, but for whatever reason, they remind me of each other.

But yeah, they seem to imply that the influx of talent at guard for Baylor seemed to push Bruce out of the way, and it would make sense that a loss of confidence might influence his poor play. Maybe a fresh start in the NBA will help him recover his skills, because he definitely has some.

Ok so what aspects do they have similar?

THe fact theyre white and theyre about the same size?

I highly doubt this guy has half the passing ability and pick and roll ability as Steve Nash so its really even hard to say theyre similar except for their physical appearance.

    you're confusing ability with style.

If they described him as a Steve Blake, there wouldnt be any confusion to what type of player he might pan out to be... but even mentioning the guy in the same sentence of a MVP and a All-Star especially if hes not even going to be drafted is outrageous.

I would take Chris Lofton over Bruce.

Well, I came to Baylor the same year he did and I've seen pretty much every single home game he's been in. First year, everyone thought he was the most incredible thing ever. He really did help build a foundation for the team we have now--an actual solid team that made the NCAA tourney this past year. However, he got worse each year and his playing time diminished, perhaps partly due to the fact that there was just a better crop of guards being recruited at Baylor.

If he somehow makes it though, good luck to him.

Agreed. As a Horn fan, I've been impressed by Curtis Jerrells a lot more than Bruce. Bruce wasn't very aggressive and usually just camped out behind the 3 point line.

how come Bruce isnt in the mix for the Olympic team?

Oh right - cause he isnt any good...

Patty Mills is about 4-5 years younger than him. And he is playing equal minutes with CJ Bruton and doing better than CJ himself.

I hope Aaron makes some money in Europe or somewhere - better yet come back and gove the NBL a bit of a talent injection - because thats the ceiling for him im afraid.

Bruce is still a part of the Boomers squad, aussie, he just wasn't in the running cos he focused in tryin to make it to the NBA. Why wasn't Jawai in the running ay?

But i think if he had gone out for the Olympics this year, he still wouldnt have taken Mills spot, but down the track i still see him in there, we won't always just run with 2 real PG.

Boomers frontline at the Olympics is gonna be monstrous tho, I can see Bogut, Anderson & Anstey at the 5,4,3 for some games(3 7ft'ers). then Barlow at 6-8 as the 2 guard, and CJ. I can see that being our 5 for some games. Look out USA!! haha
