The only thing I don't like about Christian Bale is his Batman voice.

I think the voice is needed though. He can't speak in the same voice as he does as Bruce Wayne or he will be easily recognized.Even the animated series I believe Kevin Conroy deepens his voice when he becomes Batman. I think it's necessary...

I always thought Clooney had the bruce wayne facial structure. Too bad that no effort was invested in that film. =(

Clooney seems like a guy born to play the role of the billionaire playboy facade Batman hides behind. I agree with the earlier sentiment about what little he had to work with.

Bale's been a pretty good Wayne, but his Batman seems like a caricature of the Michael Keaton version.

    this is my breakdown:

Adam West - he was great for what it was...a campy tv show not to be taken too seriously.

Keaton - great Bruce Wayne, better than good Batman but i really couldn't buy into him being a karate crime fighter.

Val Kilmer - bad Bruce Wayne, mediocore Batman

George Clooney - WTF on both (probably not his fault)

Christian Bale - very good Bruce Wayne, awesome Batman

    in conclusion, Christian Bale wins.

Yeah, I understand, but I wish Bale could just make it deeper, rather than raspy or whatever. It sounds like a bad Eastwood character at times.

Definitely between Keaton and Bale. West was more of a satire, albeit a very funny one.

I chose Bale because I really feel that these last two Batman movies are the movies I always wanted them to make, but the originals weren't far off the mark, either.

Christian Bale is the only one to act in a Batman movie. Batman Begins. Cuz the latest Batman wasn't a batman movie, it was freakin Heat. Keaton starred in a Tim Burton movie, not Batman movie. And those other debacles were just blockbuster styled flicks. Or maybe they followed the cartoon that was popular at the time.

bale stayed true to the dark messed up nature that is batman. batman is never genuinely happy..the dude is in perpetual angst, and bale hit that mood perfectly.

keaton is GOOD. i grew up with him as batman, and will always be the batman i'll remember, but bale hit the mark the best.

either way, adam west still tops as best batman ever. i still prefer his batmobile over any others.

That's what I felt like when I first saw Batman Begins...but then throughout the movie I got used to his voice and know why he had to change it...

Bale is far the best Batman...he got the attitude of the billionaire playboy and is actually fit unlike the others

It's hard not to consider how good/bad the movie was with the individual actor. To me it's between Keaton and Bale because the other Batman movies doesn't even hold a candle between these two guys.

I'm gonna go with Keaton just because I grew up with him just like most of you did.

Btw I never liked how the mask fits/looked with Kilmer and especially Clooney.

Keaton FAR exceeded everyone's expectations, I think. I remember that people were very disappointed when he was originally cast. I thought he did a fine job.

But Bale has just been terrific. What Nolen is doing here is just amazing, and Bale is a huge part of that.

I couldn't agree more! I was wondering if I was the only one that was bothered by this. Even though Kilmer was my 2nd favorite Batman, the little niche in his upper lip always drove me crazy. Clooney....well, he was just bad all around.

Kilmer was an acceptable Bruce Wayne, given what he had to work with. Keaton was better than acceptable.

Bale IS Bruce Wayne. He was a very fine Bruce Wayne in BB, but in TDK he nails it to the wall. Every nuance from the comics is there. I could see some room for debate between Bale and Keaton after BB. After TDK, there is zero room for debate.

I have to assume that anyone who isn't voting hands down for Bale hasn't yet seen Dark Knight.

    Keaton gets my vote.

Bale is awesome as Bruce but the Batman voice is so equally bad. It's too bad they couldn't dub him with Kevin Conroy.

I can understand why Bale is dominating the vote based on the quality of the movies. The poll itself fails bc you're asking movie fans to be casting directors and judge the actor based on their surroundings. Just look at the vote distributions.

It's gotta be Keaton or Bale. I voted Keaton.
