I had been noticing recently that Gugliotta was putting some decent games together, so I checked out some of his recent stats. He has been pretty consistent, averaging ~12 and 9 over the last five games. This seems to be the first time in a long time he has been playing decently for any kind of stretch. Has anyone else noticed this? Do you think he is finally recovering somewhat from his injuries? Anyway, I hope he is, I don't really like Phoenix and I was never really a fan of his, but he has gone through a lot and it would be nice to see him finish on a somewhat positive note.
I think he'll come back to around a 14 and 7 guy. The problem for Phoenix is that they pay Googs to be a 20 and 10 guy. They are REALLY in some trouble IMO. Hardaway's contract is that of an all star, 25 / 6/ 5 type guy. After injuries, he is now coming off the bench and will probably, at best, be a 15 / 5 / 4 type player. Bottom line, they have two solid role players in Googs and Hardaway on all star contracts that have years to run.
The trade of Rodney Rogers to the Celtics opened up playing time for Googs. The coaches and owner want to find out if Googs can still play. If not, they will deal him in the offseason. So far so good for Googs.
