probably only billups and RIP... i dont see why anyone would want to do billups and prince, it doesn't make sense for either team IMO.

and i would not want rasheed at this point....the guy has absolutely no focus at all. he's just about done.

i'd do trade #2 only. it gives the PG depth, the 2 remains pretty good, and we keep battier and the rest of the guys.

other trades would put the SG position in a hole.

i dont think this deal is going to go down unless the pistons include rip and either tayshaun or billups

I would do #2 or none of the above. A good PG with Rafer to back him up and a great shooter that never stops in Rip. None of the other trades make true sense for this team or make up for what T-Mac gives.

Tmac provides ballhandling, passing and scoring. Billups + Rip would replace that, none of the other combos would.

The McGrady - Detroit rumor has been bouncing around for a while and you just now start a Poll? That makes me curious.

Do you have a different read - perspective than a month ago to motivate this thread and associated Poll?

The answer is ironic. On the long drive home from work, AM790 had the collectables guys (ugh) and AM610 had two weird hosts ("Lesbian" Craig and some other guy) I could only take for 30 seconds. That forced me to try Calvin Murphy on 97.5 for the first time in about a year. The entire time I listened, all he and the co-host did was howl (very loudly) about McGrady's recent words regarding a trade to the Pistons. Until 6:00p.m. today, I hadn't given it much thought but Murph beat my eardrums so hard for 45 minutes it prompted the poll. They had me honestly thinking something might happen.

Interesting............When the story was going fairly strong 3 - 4 weeks ago, I listened to Murphy talk about the rumor. He said that Detroit called and the Rockets said they weren't interested in that offer. He made it sound that the Rockets would listen if it was a better offer

Then the story broke about Dumars calling Denver about Melo. Then the Baron Davis - Detroit story went around.

With Melo off the table and Davis signed with the Clippers, Dumars will either have to find a trade for a player on a lower talent tier or call the Rockets with a better offer. If Dumars finds a deal for a lower tier player, he has to determine if that player will have enough impact to justify making the trade since he already has enough players at a good, but not great level of play.

If Dumars calls again, he will have to have a better offer than last month since some of his other options (Davis & Melo) are no longer available.

no i'm not.... billups and rip are two all-stars, so that would give us 3 (even if billups is declining). so i would say billups / rip / yao is better than just mcgrady and yao, but

    yao / tmac / third star >>>>>>>>>> billups / rip / yao

i still say its much better to add a third star to what we already have....

I like Rip + Wallace + high first round pick. They don't have the pick so I voted none.

I chose none. Now, given, I've become attached to our players (as I always do, doh!), but I would only consider a trade if it were for two of their starters and a third bench/role player.

    That's just me.

I think we already have this kind of player - Shane Battier. What we need is either an upgrade at point guard which Billups would provide or another scoring option. We need to build a team that can score (especially if/when T-mac and/or Yao are out), our defense is already top-notch.

The best deal is Rip and Billups for Tracy. Rip and Prince also works, but I think if you do that, you flip Prince for PG. You could also trade Battier for a PG at that point, but Battier's a better defender and makes less money.

I can't believe the results of this poll... You guys can't be serious. Thank GOD the "fans" don't run this team...

Or maybe there's just a bunch of Mac-haters picking several of the first three options. Either way, still pathetic.

Not a single one of those options would improve this team at all. Not one.

You don't think Rip is a better fit for Adelman's offense than Tracy? I think it's obvious. Tracy is 3x more talented but he prevents ball-movement and often completely breaks the flow of what's going on. The Rockets didn't really jell last season until Tracy was out of the lineup (which he admitted). Rip's non-stop motion is a perfect match for an offense predicated on motion and passing instead of one-on-one play. He also comes to play every night and gives a more consistent game-to-game effort than Tracy. Having Chauncey and Rafer together would firm up our PG position and change it from a weakness to a strength. For that matter, we'd be better off even if we had to give up Rafer or Luther to the Pistons.

I think it can also be reasonably argued that Rip and Prince would make us better.

Just because most people believe some of these trades are good for the Rockets doesn't mean they hate Tracy. IMO, if a deal is done, we MUST get Rip in return plus another good player or two.

I'd try to get the best value out of it. So Rip & Prince it is. I wouldn't do any of the others. Then, either Prince or Battier gets traded for Hinrich.

Obviously no chance of all that happening but I would be ecstatic.
