LAS VEGAS -- The reigning NBA champions are about to lose their glue guy.

    James Posey

    Posey

NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com on Wednesday that James Posey has agreed to a four-year deal with the New Orleans Hornets worth an estimated $25 million.

Because of luxury-tax concerns, Boston was reluctant to offer Posey, 31, more than a two-year deal in spite of his considerable contributions to the Celtics' first championship since 1986.

Posey should take JVG to a dinner. He is no more than a blue-collar hard nosed worker. His 3p is on and off, not very consistent.

But Byron digs the type of player Posey is. I don't think this is a big deal to the rest of the West.

Doesn't matter that they overpayed him. It doesn't hurt that they did. Looks like if we can land Landry for 4mil we could snag Bonzi back? We need something better than Bonzi though.

Eventhough overpaid, he's a good addition to the Hornets and they are not near the LT

hornets may have overpaid him but we can all agree the Hornets just got a helluva lot better.

doesn't help the Rockets current situation.

That's a fairly sizeable contract for a role player heading into his mid 30s.

    That would be nice...

often times NBA contract work more like regular pay. Guys who are making alot of money either get dropped or get a raise. A guy like Bonzi, while better than some guys making more money than him, can't expect to see a big raise with his poor outing. We might be able to get him on a similar contract to what he was already on.

6 mill per year for Posey?

    ... really?

Somebody tell Morey to get on the phone with Jordan or whoever is running Charlotte then.....they are operating on a different valuation scale...

good signing for the hornets since its clear when the chips are down, peja and mo pete can't knock down open shots come playoff time. posey will deliver in that department, even though he may not be much of a factor in the regular season.

i am sad to see posey leave boston though, i wanted to see that team fully intact once again.

I think a player like Posey will add to the budding rivalry between these two teams...

Posey is borderline dirty, so an altercation with T-Mac is inevitable...

at this point we are pretty evenly matched when at full health. and keep in mind NO has had their own string of injury problems...

man the offseason is killing me...

Well if T-mac didn't get in an altercation with Bruce Bowen I doubt he will get in one with Posey, plus him and Posey are good friends.

May have overpaid for him but I was hoping he would go back to Boston and not come over here to any team in the West especially a team in our division.
