Did you sign anykind of entry form?
What we did (wont mention dealership) but anytime anybody came into the dealership we had them sign an an entry form for a cash drawing. (there was no drawing) In the fine print it says that we have the ability/permission to pull your credit.

99% of the people I dealt with just signs blindly without hesiating.

    What he said.

If you did not give your SSN#, then it could possibly be a soft pull. Does it not require a signature to do a hard pull? I would give them hell if they did a hard pull. Its obvious they did a report to see how much bargaining power they had with you.

Another trick they pull is this.

Hey fill out this form for the title.

I always have my own financing from my credit union but they always force me to sign a credit application saying it is a title info sheet. It says Credit right at the top.

I asked my credit union about it and they said I could avoid it if I waited to buy and got a check directly from them. Then the dealership would not be at any risk of letting me drive off with the car.

sure you can. my buddy worked for country wide for over a year, i had him pull my credit twice in that span to see what the score was. all he needed was my address...

now, does it affect your score? there are two different types of inquiries (ones that appear on your report, and those that don't). the inquiries that don't 'appear' on your report are listed for you to see, but don't directly decrease your score. who's to say which this will be, but i'm betting it will show up as a promotion inquiry and not affect your score.

If you have good credit then you wont have to worry about it. :D

If my score was effected every freakin time capital one ran my credit to offer me a credit card I would have a big fat zero for my score. C.O. is so annoying.

Think of it this way, if anything negative does happen to your credit score, you could just sue them and get some extra cash.

Either way, you should definitely go back in there and kick some ass.

If it shows on the credit report that means there was a hard credit check. These lower your credit score. I used to work as a credit specialist when I was in college.

I worked for a bank. tell you the truth, Yes it affects your score. there are 2 types of hits on your credit. a soft hit and a hard hit

hard hits are when you are applying for a loan or financing something.
soft hits are the credit card offers you get in the mail, or if you call Dish network or someone else for services and they pull your credit to verify.

hard hits will decrease your score per HIT.

soft hits will also decrease your score if there are too many of them going on.
1 or 2 hits wont lower your score but if there have been many hits over a period of time (about 2-3 months) then, Yes it will lower your score.

i just moved to a new apartment, they checked my credit, i got dish network, they checked my credit, i got at&t and they checked my credit.

i just looked at me score from previous month when all this happened, and it dropped 24 points.
