I really enjoyed that game. Helps with the drudgery of the offseason. Heres what I picked up from the game.

Donte Green....wow. He was absolutely on fire. He will fit in nicely here if he continually gets better over the next few years. No turnovers, ally oops, mid range shooting, 3 point shooting. Nothing short of fantastic.

Mike Harris showed me alot. Small, but was extremely versatile today...passing, driving, 3s ?

Brooks needs to work on his playmaking, his game was atrocious but you could tell he was playing a different style of basketball. Im not sure if he can get better at it, but if not, hey atleast he is still a good penetrator.

Cant wait till the next game :)

Morey gets an A+ after that performance by Greene. Now, let's see Dorsey give him some extra credit!

    Some thoughts...

Maarty Leunen really surprised me. Wasn't this kid tabbed as Novak-lite coming out of college? But he just kept blowing by his man in this game. Not sure if his 3-point stroke is on par with Novak's, but MAN, if Novak had his mobility, he'd be the perfect contributer off the bench.

Also, Harris looks really slimmed down this year, and much more mobile as a result. A couple of nice moves to the basket, mixing it up inside and showing off a couple of nice jumpers.

Donte Greene is a beast. He's like the Tmac of summer league out there. If he even plays to 60-70% of that level during the regular season, we have ourselves a gem.

AB needs to find his groove. He still looks the part of a playmaker, but seems more comfortable creating for himself first than for others. Excellent, excellent speed though. Nobody could stay in front of him. I'm sure we could use that quickness as a sparkplug off the bench, give opponents a different look at PG compared to Rafer.

Wow lots of good stuff from this game. I love Donte. He looks like a lock to be a contributor and possibly 3rd scorer. Robinson looks like a real possibility to make this team. He knows how to run an offense. He seems almost always under control.

Harris looked good but still looks like an undersized 4 and not a SF. His 3 point release is just too slow. I think he will have a hard time getting that against the big boys. Unlike Donte who looks like he will have no problem. In fact Donte will be more wide open than he has ever been in his whole life with Yao. Donte might just be the perfect player for this with Yao and Tmac demanding double's. the way they will. And the bad side Brooks just does not look like a point guard but rather a small 2. He has so much speed but he seems to only know 1 speed. It's only the first game of the s/l but still he looks out of control mostly. On the positive if he can't get the offense going he seems to be able create for himself.

Leunen won't play for the team this year but I think he has a shot of playing in the future. He is a much more physical player than Novak and potentially almost as goood a shooter. A think the writing was already on the wall for Novak. But Barry and Donte makes him definitely expendable. Lanny Smith is not ready for prime time.

even though summer league does not mean much (b/c beasley sucked his first game), but greened showed A LOT. maybe he can be the secret that landry was last yr and bust out for us and maybe he's the backup 3 that we need.

5-10 from 3s??? you know we love 3pt shooters on a team with mac/yao
11-12 from the line??? you know we love anyone who can shoot over 75% from the line

oh man, morey is a draft magician.

Obviously a great debut for Donte Greene. Newly signed over millions dropping into the bank account would have me smiling big and playing inspired too. Just remember this performance when maybe the next game he goes 3 for 15 with 6 turnovers.

Mike Harris is consistently good in summer league games, hasnt had a bad game yet in the SL. He hit a three, but it didnt really look fluid or anything.

Maarty Leunen = Novak is expendable?

Just in the slow release on his 3pt shot, and his competitive fire, that is what reminds me of Elie.

SECRET???? Donte has lottery talent and was projected by most mock drafts as a late lottery pick. For whatever reason (promises to other players; team needs; etc.), he slid all the way to #28.

    Absolutely. Frickin'. Steal.

i'm talking about overall game. harris does have that competitive fire, but i don't see the style in his play that says he can play on the perimeter.

Not quite or they wouldnt have just picked up his option. Morey sees him as a "valuable asset" to this ball club. As for why, that I can't tell you.
