It is not even close for me....Steve...... Him leading the team was the most frustrating time for me as a Rockets fan.....he played with heart and passion but drove me nuts with his stupid dribbling of the ball and his inability to play a proper PG. IMHO, the best thing Steve Francis did for the Rockets was bring us Tmac.... Now that being said, I welcomed him back as a low risk potentially high reward role player....but I think his days are done. So for me Francis was far more criticized, at least by me. DD
I voted Steve: 1. many people thought he couldn't be trusted as a PG 2. many people thought he couldn't play along Yao 3. many people were break dancing when we got Tmac for Steve/Cuttino 4. the Super Bowl incident 5. many thought Steve's success was tied to Cuttino and Rudy T's playbook
Do we have any news on how fit Francis is? Is he working out right now? As to most criticized - right now, T-Mac, as one tends to forget that Francis even is on the roster anymore. Before, Steve.
I know, its just between these two. I have observed this to be a hot topic so therefore I put in on a fajita plate with onions and peppers for you guys.
it's hard to say, but most hated has to be tmac between the two. but steve was my dude (before the superbowl thingy)
I think it's TMac by a landslide. Francis pretty much became irrelevant after his injury. He was still talked about but not nearly as scrutinized as McGrady is.
i would steve was the guy was blasted here a lot especially when yao arrived despite all he did for yao trying to help him adjust to the new culture. i am hoping big time that now that Steve finally got the surgery he should have had years ago that he can return to being similar to what he was before a penetrating guard who could finish at the rim. really hoping.
the 5th one has some truth to it. when he got traded, he was very good until cuttino got traded. rudy T's playbook was very small anyways during the francis era so didn't matter lol. cuttino is like his body and soul. without cuttino, there is no francis.
I voted for Stevie. He was endlessly criticized in his first stint and at least here he was criticized again when he returned to the roster out of shape and injured. Tmac's received quite an earful for the last three years or so but Stevie got it for several more years than that...
is steve less hated because of the chinese 'big brother' thing with yao? or is steve less hated cause he was brought up as a rookie here as opposed to tmac coming here as an established player?
i think steve is actually more welcome than tmac b/c during his era, we had no expectations of winning big but steve brought the excitement and showtime (despite his over-dribbling) to the city. like i said, nobody in this city expected us to win, but the city had fun during his era. it wasn't a frustrating era at all, at least for me. that's why i still appreciate steve and wanted him to play last yr so bad. he also was the main guy who welcomed yao and really got out of his way to make yao comfortable in the states. but with tmac, i think EVERYBODY expected him to lead us to big things. we wanted championships right away. and when we're not even close (though we should be if we were healthy) by being eliminated in teh first round, tmac, being the best player, gets most of the blame. it's the same way JVG got hammered his last yr here. but like i said, it's more hate than criticism on tmac. i hear more myths/garbage about tmac than anything on this board (faking injuries last yr when he out with his knee was borderline vicious by some people on this board).
we know who's the man in that relationship lol but truly joking. but we all know what francis has become since cuttino was traded from orlando and steve has been by his lonesome. it's not a coincidence his downfall started from there. like everybody, i hope steve bounces back and prove me wrong and become that 3rd scorer. but it's a big prayer.
i totally disagree, steve didn't live up to expectations as far as developing, but a young franchise point guard couldn't have been in a more difficult situation than following a championship roster with hofers added to the fact that he and mobley reprsented a new young generation of hip hop in a southern town. i'll never forget when sports talk shows were filled with calls about what mobley and francis did during the national anthem. they were doomed from the start. tracy's first years were easier because he followed francis
