i know morey probably underpaid landry a little this past year. but c'mon, landry, be realistic. what do you expect? what can you expect beyond a 7-8 mil for 3 year type of deal?

    #1, landry is really nothing special in my eyes (though has his values obviously);
#2, he is, like someone said, virtually hijacking our mle right now and preventing the team from making other moves if needed.

for these reasons, i'd probably cut him loose provided there is still no solution by the end of the month if i were morey.

Landry is testing the waters, which he SHOULD do, it is a business.....he should get whatever he can get.......however if he doesn't get an offer by September the Rockets will be in a much heavier handed position.

I do think the deal will get done and it would be interesting to know what type of money the Rockets are offering if any at all....

Landry should fire his agent. He has no idea what they should do.

we should just tell his agent that we dont want landry anymore, then his agent will seek contract from pacers, more chances that contract will be somewhere around 1-2million then we match that contract, then his agent will get owned by our GM HAHAHAHA

If I were Landry, I should be wiser now on payroll. Landry doesn't get much money on his rookie season. He has the talent but at least he should earn the money he truly deserves.

the question would be how much?

You are absolutely right! The Rockets might focus on a center for a 10 to 15 min. a game. Somebody has to tell this guy Landry that he might miss the bus!!

In fact, the rockets don't need Landry that much. They just don't want to lose him for free.

I think they do need him, he is a finisher, and can hit free throws, and will probably improve in his 2nd year too...

I think they need him badly.......they are just going to have to wait...

Yes, he can play. But, without him, the rockets are still the rockets.

Everyone should have seen this coming. Morey was going to lowball. Buddy Baker and Landry were going to wait and see the offers. Morey said he would match in the end but by announcing that he would match and by leaking the knee issues, he all but guaranteed that any offers would be lowball offers.

Buddy Baker and Landry will still wait to field those offers. Only an offer from the Pacers or another NBA team will move Morey off square one. So we should expect to wait for at least another month or two without this situation resolving.

How many days do the Rockets have to match an offer? I thought it was like 10 days.

So, if a team does offer Landry a contract, Morey can mess up their summer by waiting until the last minute to sign Landry.

And by that time all of the free agents should be signed.

I think right now teams are afraid of offering Landry a contract.

    1. There is the MRI issue.
    2. There is the Rockets public announcement that they will match.
    3. There is the couple of days (10 I think) the Rockets have to match.

Classic game of chicken. If I were the Pacers I wouldn't offer Landry anything until the Rockets blinked first and did something dumb like use up their MLE. Rockets are waiting too for the Pacers to make a move.

A small clarification: I think Landry has had an MRI, but Morey is asking for an arthroscopic examination.

Which is strange, because the team let him play on it in the playoffs and there was no problem doing that....

I think they know he is ok, and are just doing the typical "Talk down your restricted players" lingo....

Landry will resign......it just may take a while.

As a rookie, he should be trying to work on his game as much as he can. Our other rookies aren't skipping out on Summer ball.

Correct me if I am wrong. Landry still has the option to play for qualifying offer and then become an unrestricted free agent next year, right? If he opts to do so and get a big contract next yaer, what should rocket do?

I don't think the pacers are very interested in Landry. Have they invited Landry to visit? or Have they come to Houston to visit Landry?

They might be willing to offer him the LLE.

Hopefully something comes out of the Landry situation this coming week because we gotta turn our attention into other FA's. Sure hope this Landry situation doesn't linger around much longer

I hope they weren't serious about considering Mike Harris as a valid substitute for Landry. He didn't show me anything worth bringing back for another season.

    WHAT???????

The guy comes in as a late season replacement and shoots 50%....better than almost everyone else on the team not named, Yao, Luis or Carl, and you think he did not earn another shot?

    Wow.
