Funny because this one doesn't, anyways the point is the NBA isn't like European soccer clubs just because you might get more revenue doesn't amount to more money to spend in free agency.

Also the TV deal with China is signed with the NBA and that revenue is shared.

here is a discussion of the revenue sharing when it first came into place in 1996.

I wonder how many people are on this board? Maybe we could all pool our money together and just pay it for Les :) Good question though. Even multi-millionaires are cheap!

The funny thing is the NBA released the list of tax paying teams for 07/08 in the past week and the Spurs weren't on it.

Pryuen, that article is quite famous and was debunked soon afterward. Yao's true (& huge) impact is impossible to calculate because these lists always emanate from sketchy information.

Not that familiar with Forbes magazine, are you?

The Forbes 400 or 400 Richest People (first published in 1982) is a list published by Forbes Magazine of the wealthiest 400 Americans, ranked by net worth. The list is published annually in September.

And Les Alexander managed to crack into Forbes 400 in 2006....he was ranked 322.

Maybe Yao will be injured in the Olympics and then have to heal for a few months... and then we'll get him for the second half of the season when we need him and in the playoffs.

Not that I'm wishing it upon Yao to get hurt but he seems to get hurt every year. Just wishing for better timing of the annual injury to the poor guy.

Ideally he wouldn't get hurt at all.

Yea but most of it is from his business ventures outside of the Rockets
Also I believe you got his net worth confused with how much money he is making.

The 1.2 Billion in the article is saying that is how much money he would have if he sold everything (including the rockets) that is how much money he would have. People also need to know that most NBA owners earn more money from other ventures while the NBA teams doesn't make them that much compared to their other income sources.

though it's a dumb topic, but it has relevance though. he does have a point that irregardless of what yao does (he may be injured for another 2-3 years in the upcoming seasons) and les won't trade him. yao has increased les' and the team's worth. yao will retire a rocket, even if we the cavs offer us lebron james + a #1 pick.

the exposure the team gets in china is ridiculous and les will never give that up. you're talking about making the rockets a household name to billions of chinese.

but it doesn't matter. we all want yao to be the healthiest he can be next yr, strap on, and destroy the competition, help this team fulfill its potential.

Yao is more of a status symbol and expensive business lunch to open doors than a money maker. If Les's investment in that chinese car manufacturer works out he can build his own scrooge mcduck money bin.

if you are trying to belittle yao's financial value to this organization, you failed......

look at those chinese endorsements. how about those players getting contracts with chinese companies? I am sure as long as they are on the team, they can get sweet pocket money without difficulties.

one thing i might be wrong, I heard Les's money tripled or even more after Yao joined the team...

You are right on the money. Just do a search on this person's past posts. You will be amazed at how much a supposedly Rockets fan (he said he is) could hate a Rocket player that much. I don't want to comment on the reason behind it but, to me, it is very obvious.

Carter or mac? It's no wonder that they are brothers. :p :p
mac : I'm tmac ,he is my brother Carter.( pointing to  )
 Hello , mac.How are you doing ?
macI can't be doing any better ,and how about you?
 Perfect.I've heard that you are likely to be traded , is that true?
mac: I hope so,but the pistons don't intend to trade stukey, that 's what has delaied the ideal deal time after time. But i have been pressing morey for trading you here, with battier and bjax as a package.
 great, i hope to play with you, brother.but the nets don't want bjax, they don't need to clear cap space right now. They want scola most.
mac Every team wants him,it doesn't matter whether scola remains in nba or walks back to europ. It matters that we achive championships ,you know ,we have won no championship yet.
 i think you will be gonna win it after LBJ will join you two years later.
mac yes ,but they will have to give me up to clear room for james then. if i will intend to realize my champion dream,i'll get no contract better that a LLE from morey. It'll be unacceptable that i sign a LLE contract as webber did last year.
 don't worry about your your debts , brother ,i'll help pay them off.And if your were busted in Las Vegas for owing bet debt, I would guarantee you from the station then. And i'll ask for a max contract from the nets after my present contract expires, then we'll not suffer finacial problems .I'll share 5 percent of my salary with you ,one percent more than the agent.
mac:Hell you,I 'll never be so poor as you imagined,
