Hey.. no need to get nasty and personal!

I am saying I like how he performed in summer league and pre-season last year. I was disappointed when he was cut and glad when they replaced Gerald "I'm too good to work hard" Green by signing him when Yao went down.

A lot of people like players who work hard to become better, just because he's undersized doesn't make him a bad player.

If he's going to work to find himself a place on the team that is all the more reason he should be supported.

I would much rather have undersized Hayes and Harris-like role players who are going to work hard than a bunch of athletic Stromile Swift or Gerald Green-like guys who think the world should be handed to them because they can jump higher.

Plus.. all I did was post the freaking link and story. I am not the only person here (as can be seen by all the posts in this thread) who liked the hustle and dedication of Mike Harris. Gimme a break.

...took that joke to heart didn't cha. ;) ....sorry

Ya know...i actually like Harris and Hayes more than most people. Mostly because they play at a level similar to players who are making 2 and 3 times as much money as them just because of height. Although i would love to have some smart green/swift like athletes.

It probably wouldn't have bothered me as much if you hadn't posted the "hots for" part of it.

Plus I get defensive when everyone wants to cut all the players with heart for players with height.

Nobody calls for a player with height instead of heart. We want both in a player.

Size is very important especially in the playoffs.

In this year's Rox vs Jazz playoff series, except in Gm 1 which both teams tied in rebound and the Rockets lost, the team which won the rebound won the game in all the other games.

Okur averages 7-8 rebounds in regular seasons. In this year's playoffs against the Rockets, IIRC, I think Okur averaged 12+ rebounds. That's call size advantage. Okur abused the Rockets' front court size.

    You cant teach height.

Hmm...lesson learned. I could say i would have said something similar to a guy but that probably doesn't matter at this point.

Anyway...i wouldn't agree with Morey who has said that they don't put much stock in height but i will say that a shorter hustle player is better than a taller player who can't do much of anything. I think Harris is a fringe NBA player though because he is a jack of all trades while a guy like Hayes' spot is safe because he is an elite defender and rebounder.

I will say that i am in the minority of fans who could care less about a player's heart. Harris should be on the team because he is talented at driving to the rim, rebounding, and scoring inside. Those things i can see for sure, heart is some arbitrary manifestation.

I really like Mike Harris and I believe he has what it takes to be a Bonzi type of player. He just has this raw, unquenchable desire to achieve. This goes far in my book. True, he's not as naturally gifted as some with respect to height and quickness, but I believe he makes up for it with sheer will power and hustle.

    Go Mike!

MIKE HARRIS IS NOT A 4!!!! he was only used as a 4 last season because its all hustle. mike harris has the quickness and ability to play the 2/3 but last season he had trouble with it as a late nba rookie. if you remember one of the games after his breakout against the bobcats he played about 5 min. in the third quarter at the 3 but bricked his only 3 point shot and was too timid, and after the bonzi trade we needed someone to fill minutes so they put him in at 4. mike harris is a small forward!!! sorry if i sound annoid but he really isnt an undersized 4 he is a beefy 3.
here is just a few highlights of mike harris playing the perimeter:

I agree, Harris is a power 3.....and dropping 12 pounds will make him even better.....

Shawn Marion would look great, right?

More options for Adelman at the 2/3/4 is all good......

    :D

seems like the 9th time I said this
What position was Darvin Ham, what did he really lend? Mike Harris can be an "NBA body" as much as he can.

But he has to not only improve his D but his lateral quickness with it. For a hustle player he's an average defender at best, so hopefully slimming down brings out some good defensive play.

Gonna go at them with the 3-4 philosophy, which calls on having guys who have enough mobility to get to the ball. While still being strong and versatile enough to when they go with a power game that you wont get pushed back

Players I would cut before Harris....

Woods and Head, and depending on injury, Francis.

LOL! Novak has a guaranteed contract. And Mike Harris can never shoot 3 pointers like Novak.

The Rockets if they sign Dorsey and Greene, they will have 13 guaranteed contracts.

If Deke and Landry are back, they will have 15 guaranteed contracts.

If Deke is not back, the Rockets most likely will keep Loren Woods.

The only chance for Harris to make the roster is Landry doesnt come back.

What has Woods ever done on the court for the Rockets? Did I miss it?
