I just hope that he does that trade before the start of the season cuz during the season, it could kill the chemistry. Also, maybe that before that the deadline the player that we want may be taken about another team.
It is more like he is constantly working on something, but IF something is to happen, it is more likely to happen by trade deadline. He said it before that some teams will know by trade deadline if they would make it to the playoff or need to start rebuilding. Those ready to rebuild would welcome the many decent rookies and young players (and draft picks), i.e., assets. In any case, just because he is always working on something, doesn't mean something will happen. I just think something incremental is likely to happen before the season starts when they have to trim down to 15 players, and a maybe for the big one by trade deadline.
Actually, he just made a generalization. He said big trades tend to happen close to the trade deadline. He didn't say anything about us working on a big trade.
1. im happy to hear that he is looking to trade contracts in order to trim the roster to 15, rather than making cuts. 2. smart move on the landry situation. i wouldn't offer anything more than two years to see how his knee holds up, and to maintain cap space in 2010. 3. promising talk about working on a big move for the deadline. in morey we trust.
This is just wrong. The marble explicitly does NOT have a memory. It is what is know as a random process. Fire Daryl Morey.
So is my sarcasm meter broken or is it just yours? When a statistician with a rep like Morey's tells you something like that with a straight face, you HAVE to know he's joking!
I am sorry, eventhough i liked landry alot. he is not anything more than 2 to 3 mils a yr for 2 yrs with 3rd yr team option. He's a rookie, who played half the season and showed great dunks for 12 to 15 games. not to mention he's undersize. Morey is position rockets to the 2010 "jackpot". take a look at our players, most of them expired at 2010. Both Tmac and Yao are at 2010 and some. wouldn't you think morey is position himself to get at least one of them? maybe not lebron, but how about wade, chris paul, bosh...etc? Morey can give extensive to both tmac and Yao while position the cap situation to attrach wade, CP3, or others. we have one of the most attracting core players and cap room to get the players we need. imagin we get chris paul, playing along side tmac and yao...
1. Yao's contract does not expire until 2011. 2. Chris Paul was just signed to an extension. He will not be a FA in 2010. 3. Plenty of other teams are looking forward to 2010 and will have attractive core players in addition to cap space. Houston will likely be just one of many teams vying for those FAs and Yao isn't the only great player in this league to use as bait. Basically, you don't present a single convincing argument as to why Houston will be a leading player in 2010. You are really just pointing out that they may be a player.
Why does everyone think the agent choosing not to get Landry's knees scoped is dumb? (1) It is surgery and not to be entered into lightly. (2) It can only hurt his value. Some team late in the summer will sign him to a contract hoping the Rockets will be too afraid of his knee to match. Worst case, he plays at a discount one more season to show he's okay. But, if he has it tested, no one will ever give him a contract worth his talent. And, he can't test it and not tell people the results -- you can't hide knee surgery and teams would assume the worst if you don't disclose results. Landry is doing the smart thing with his negotiation. More information will be bad for him.
I agree about Landry, but I think the Rockets already know everything they need to know about his knee. DD
