What software are you currently using to get rid of and keep out Adware and Spyware? Viruses

    I been using Adaware
    and McAfee

Just wanted to see if something better had come along
    for me to upgrade too

    nothing now.

But when I had to have it I always felt Spybot was better than Adaware. Of course it doesn't hurt to run both.

Whenever I build a PC again I'll have to find something (unless I cheap out and just stick AVG on there :D )

Not a big fan of McAfee, slightly less hate for Norton.

Here is what I use on my computer.

    AntiVirus: Nod32
Spyware: SpyBot, AdAware Pro, and Webroot Window Washer
Firewalls: Aside from my router's firewall I also use Comodo Firewall Pro

I too dislike Norton and McAfee. They are ok but ultimately are severe memory hogs.

I swore years ago that I would never use another Norton product again. But I think they've gotten they're act together. Also, Norton Internet Security is not nearly the resource hog it used to be.

    Mcafee Enterprise
    SpyBot
    Hijackthis

Sometimes I'll do some cleaning manually because these spy removers only remove the files that the orginal spyware creates. Sometimes you'll need to use a startup disk like BartPE to get in there and delete those DLL files that can't be deleted under regular windows or safe mode.

    AVG Anti-Spyware

Besides, you can use NIS or KIS, both includes Antivirus and Firewall.

All I use is Windows' built-in firewall protection with AntiVir and Threatfire for antivirus and 0-day malware protection. I don't have issues with spyware, viruses or trojans

Exactly what is wrong with AVG now? That's what I've been using for the past 3 years or so.

i'm not sure myself, but all the computer techs i know told me avg isn't the best anymore. they recommend avast with avg as a close second.

i switched from mcafee to avast a month ago and i'll never go back to mcafee/norton etc.

AVG went from being a so-so scanner to being a good scanner. It's not the best, it's definitely not the worst. AntiVir may be a better free scanner than AVG. AntiVir may be a better scanner than scanners you pay for (including many of the bigger names).
