Spurs has used up most of their MLE for mason and i am pretty sure Thomas will not be satisfied with the rest. If we have to use the whole MLE to keep Landry, I would have KT for 5million rather than Landry.

The Spurs have Bird rights on Kurt Thomas. They don't have to use the MLE to re-sign him.

Really? Hows that work? I knew the older CBA up and down. This new one is deceitful and has no honor.

If you recall, the Spurs traded Brent Barry and Francisco Elson to Seattle at the trade deadline for Kurt Thomas, who was in the last year of his big long-term deal. Because the Spurs traded for him, they inherited his long-term contract and, thus, his Bird rights. Much the same way that the Rockets were able to quickly extend Tracy McGrady's contract at max dollars shortly after trading for him.

Kurt Thomas is a very crafty and underrated player. He is an expert at flopping and a master of getting away with fouls. I would prefer him to Deke.

He has said on more than one occasion that he would like to remain with the Spurs and they would like to retain him as well. There's nothing we can do other than throw lots of money at him, which would be insane to offer him the same kind of money you're offering a player of similar skill level who happens to be 10 years younger.

why dont we sign bonzi back. i honestly dont know if we have the money to do it, but if landry is resigned with half the mle(hoping) then you kno bonzi would take a small pay cut to play for HIS coach again. he can be a great scoring option when hes hot and he plays great D.

that is the point ,it's a pity that we don't have bird rights for landry.while ,idon't think landry is worth mle,he deserves 3m per year at most.

If Chuck Hayes gets traded for help elsewhere, sure why not...

Or if Landry signs elsewhere and Deke retires absolutely, I'd love KT in that case. Dorsey might be the second coming of Moses Malone but I'd like someone on the roster who I know belongs in the NBA.
